14hh welsh d colt - what size rug?!

What size rug for a 14hh welsh colt (18 months old) he needs a rain sheet as although he has a thick fluffy coat and is plenty warm, his field has very little shelter so its just something to keep him dry in the wet weather!
Found the perfect rug but want the right size, going out of stock quickly so need to order asap!
Am thinking a 5ft3 or 5ft6??
Does anyone have one similar size?

My youngest sec d boy is almost 14hh (the one in my sig) - chunky build at the mo, coat like a yak...but similarly i am considering a rain sheet type thing for him as not much natural shelter...hasn't remotely looked like he needed at all so far, I have to say, even in that awful recent weather..but anyway, measured him up and was shocked to discover he measures for 5ft 9!! - Like you, I thought he'd be 5'3 or 5'6...so I'd measure if I were you!

We've got a Welsh B type in a 5' 3"... He's 13.2 or so... The 14.1 cob type we've got on loan (not very heavy) is in a 5' 9"... I really thought she'd be a 5' 6" at a push...

I'd measure or see if you can borrow someone else's just to try on and get an idea of size...

As above......it only takes a minute to measure your pony & it will save you the expense of buying a rug that doesn't fit.
