Murder probe into teenager death
A murder inquiry is under way after a 16-year-old boy was attacked in Leicester in the early hours, police have said.
Three people, including two teenagers, were arrested following the incident in Fosse Road South.
Leicestershire Police said the boy was attacked in the street and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 14-year-old boy, a 15-year-old girl and a 31-year-old woman were being questioned about the death.
'Early stages'
The area has been cordoned off to allow for detailed forensic examination to take place.
A post-mortem examination will take place later on Tuesday.
Det Ch Insp Phil Smith, who is leading the investigation, said: "We are in the very early stages of the investigation and are trying to piece together exactly what happened.
"I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident, was in the area at the time or has any information that could help with our investigation to get in touch urgently."

My thoughts go out to the family... what a horrific way to start the year

Leicester was always a bit rough but this sort of thing is off the scale after all the warnings that are given people are still laughing at the law. I think you need a punishment to fit the crime perhaps that may help to stop this?

Maybe 20 years without parole for carrying a gun or knife, seems to me if your in town why would you have a knife on you unless your going to stab someone.

I don't think it would make a difference, these are the kind of people that can't be right in the head full stop, but then again that has alot to do with the fact they think there untouchable and to an extent invincible!

it's very scary....TBH I really don't like this city

You and me both, funny thing is I went to groom in belgium for 3 months and missed the place! Who'd of thought anyone would ever say that?!

In my defense after a week the novelty of being home had worn off!!

For some strange reason I thought you were talking about highcross equestrian centre then. For starters I hadn't realised it was closed quickly followed by really strange images of Leicester's chavs terrorising the horse world.....!!!

DUH!

Not with it today, I went from the horses, to the pub, to the shops! And sat here thinking to myself what an idiot I am!

I'm looking forward to it opening but I'm not going to hold my breath, every in Leics seems to hold grand promises and turn out so different.

sounds like a fairly decent morning to me...I went from the yard to Fosse park Asda, I was trying to get there before the chavs woke up but it full of kiddies, eek!

hopefully the new shopping centre will give the teenagers something to do here, there might be a bit more going on in the city centre.

Oooh no, I meant pondering which Highcross you were referring to! My day's awful, got up at 6am did the horses and been at work ever since, dull dull dull!!!

Oooh would I prefer kids or chav's..... that a difficult one! Although that does remind me what is it with the chavs obsession of hanging around at asda fosse park?!?

I cant remember the last time I went into Leicester, It's an absolute sh*t hole. Especially now they've opened the flood gates! - Or Fosse Park - that's always packed.

In saying that, most towns have their rough area's.

What Highcross are you talking about? - Highcross Street in Leicester? - What's happening?

I hate having to go shopping into Leics, Fosse is just about bearable!

I had to laugh as I was talking to a guy at work from Newcastle and he was raving about Leics nightlife, I was like quick, where, I want to go!!!

No the big shires extension, there naming highcross something aren't they?!?

They were going to call it Highcross Quarter...but turns out no one had though to to check if the web address for that...it is already taken by a witchs' coven somewhere....duh....so they're just calling it Highcross.
