Can't actually take the plunge right now, and she'll be gone before I can, but trying to get my eye in ...

Any cc-type thoughts? I'm looking for a school master to teach me a thing or two about dressage, jump 2 foot +, and to hack about on. And to learn to be a horse owner with. I really feel drawn to her! Obviously, would like to think I'd be doing the odd prelim test and getting out to jump higher at some point.

I'm 5'2", 11 stone ... any thoughts?

It would tick a lot of boxes, I like the fact that she has only had two owners in 9 years, it makes it easy to really check things before you buy. The only thing to clarify would be how forward going she is, this means different things to different people, it does say she is always in a snaffle so presumably she is not too strong.
It is actually a very well thought out ad and better than most you read though.

It is a good advert, I would have a concern she is more TB than anything else, which would just make me a little cautious if buying for a first time owner.

Anybody got any thoughts on the 'U' brand on her shoulder ? I have seen insurance loss of use branded as an 'L' with a circle round it, but no idea what a 'U' means.

She sounds really nice but to be honest she strikes me more as a first competition horse rather than a first horse. Difficult to say without seeing her though.

If it's like a little horse shoe shape, then it's a micromark. Shows she's been microchipped basically. Not a loss of use mark. It works like a freezemark but less conspicuous.

My boy has one and people often think it's a brand. I do think about saying, yes, he is a very posh and snazzy rare breed - but he is so obviously a heinz 57 !!

The 'U' means she is micro chipped! It's supposed to be a horse shoe - another good sign that someone has invested in her IMO.

Well I have learnt something useful today. I did not know a horse was freeemarked when it is microchipped. Personally I think it looks a mess and would be far better tucked away under the saddle.

Nothing was mentioned to me when my foal was microchipped and registered with the breed society recently, so I assume it's an option the owner has to request ?

Private advertiser? I think not

She may well be lovely, but why say you are a private seller when you are a dealer?

Ha! I half wondered when I the other two adverts at the bottom of the page (after I had posted the above) which are very similarly described, but I didn’t think to Google the number ...

I guess if it sounds too good to be true ... she is a red-headed girly after all!

Still, I would have gone to see her if I was in a position to.

Thanks for all your thoughts! Maybe she would be better for the comp scene...

Looks like a really nice sort (even with dodgy legs).

As ever Rhino is super sleuth - and on that basis I probably wouldn't ring about her.

Not that I think she's necessarily 1st horse material......

I wouldn't have ruled her out, I just hate people being dishonest in adverts (private or dealer).

FWIW the ginger horse in my sig was my 1st horse - from a dealer - mostly tb (branded wb) and has been the perfect 1st horse and competition horse; if the temperament is right there is no reason they can't do 'both' jobs :) I bought T with the aim of having a fun hack and doing a little bit of sj, but ended up eventing, dressaging, teamchasing, Trec'ing... you name it :D Not to a particularly high level, but he qualified for the RC Nationals a fair few times ;)

Good luck with your search!

OOh intriguing!

BTW AAlice - you don't have to have the chip and the mark done together. The mark is purely optional. My boy was already chipped but as it doesn't show I wanted something that would, but as he's got lots of white that a normal freezemark would have looked odd and his brown patches were too small for a normal number. So I got a little horseshoe instead and looks quite sweet I think.

I agree not sure why this wasn't done under saddle area as that is an odd place to put it, although I suppose that is where a normal freezemark can go sometimes.

I don't like her jumping technique.... But I wouldn't rule her out just because of that. I'd want to go and see her in real life and see if she does actually jump like that!
