Ok so it is the first ever HT I've done, just want to check I've got everything.
Hat and body protector that meets standards, can't remember the make of hat (jockey skull) but the body protector is a rodney powell with shoulder guards. matching gloves, silk and long sleeve top.
XC lightweight NEW boots for Pidge and over reach boots, taped up on Sunday. Ice tight (?) for his legs afterwards.
Anything else I need? Do I need a medical card and if so where do I get one from?
Oh and a big thanks for the XC tips the other day, went and had another play tonight and he half hearted ran out at the first fence twice but then switched myself to jump mode (I was trying to keep him too calm

) and he was fab

we actually had brakes tonight and put together the fences and did a course, even jumping several of them on an angle

Jumped a house, pheasant feeder, chair, table, ditch and log as a small course

and only had 2 moments where he wanted to ping at the fences so a big improvement from the other day

thanks, I have the bit for the card to go in on my shoulder guard but no card!
breathe and enjoy more like "oh cr@p I'm going to die"

You might need a number bib? You could ring the organiser and find out. Also check all you tack for wear before you go especially the stitching of your reins, girth and stirrup leathers. If you have tack inspection (most RC do) this is what they check and are quite strict about safety so they won't let you out with any dodgy tack. Even if you don't have a tack inspection it's still a good idea to give your tack a good checkover a few days before, you don't want to lose a stirrup leather halfway around!! I always use an overgirth, not a necessity but a good precaution. Good luck!!!!

Have you got studs etc if Pidge's shoes have holes in them? I would never go XC without them personally. Also don't forget your gloves, compulsory for dressage in horse trials!
Good luck!

boys were shod yesterday and as we are only jumping 2' - 2'3" farrier says we are ok with normal shoes and no studs.
Just XC thank god as our dressage leaves a lot to be desired at the moment

can I wear blue gloves to match my XC colours? Do I have to wear a stock or am I ok in just my XC top?

Yes you can wear whatever colour gloves you like for XC! more neutral ones for dressage though (black/brown/navy - hate white gloves as i reckon they draw attention to your hands!!!)
I would wear a stock for XC; not 100% sure whether the rules say you must but I have a feeling they're required dress, and I think also they can help provide neck support in the event of a fall.
