2 dogs fighting- bonding exercises

Hi,

I own a 6 yr old female staffy and have on trial a 5 month male staffy, they seem to get on well until toys or playing is involved,(we take toy away when they start fighting) if a toy is involved they start toplay which then turns into a fight and growl but they do not actually bite but am worried that it may escalate.

They are perfect on walks together and seperately, is there anything we can do to make them bond a bit better?

He is a lovely pup but we won't be able to keep him if they carry on fighting!

Never leave toys down. Simples.

Shared toys are a recipe for disaster with some dogs. The way I work it, toys are for reward for the individual dogs, they belong to me and I bring them out and I put them away and they are only ever produced for desirable behaviour.
 
As CC said - just don't leave toys down unless they are being supervised.

I have 2 Staffies (a 10 year old male and a 6 year old female), and on the occasions where they play, they will growl at each other and appear "aggressive" - however it sounds worse than it actually is!
 
Sparring/growling and wrestling are normal play..it is if it goes silent and one is velcroed onto the other`s neck you need to be concerned! Just be referee to avoid esculation into temper loss.
 
Certain toys are banned from my staffs, balls especially.

Mine are also banned from eating bakers food as it makes them a million times worse. We just supervise them ( as does the rottie) and occasionally have to step in to send the older female staffie upstairs out of the way.
 
I own Staffords and would never ever allow them free rein over toys. A fight can start over nothing and the resulting damage isnt worth the risk. Mine have always been fed separately, never given treats/bones etc together and they know who the boss is - in no uncertain terms it will always be me!! They are also separated whenever I cannot personally supervise them, if I go out/in the car etc
