My friend's two dogs have gone missing, they disappeared from her farm just outside Box. They've been gone for 6 days, and friend is understandably distraught.

Collie bitch, aged 4, black and white, wearing a red collar, tagged.

Husky bitch, aged 2, cream and tan with a reddish tail, brown collar, tagged.

Both very friendly. Friend belives that both dogs ran off after deer, seen heading towards Marshfield but might have since been picked up.

Any sightings or info PLEASE let me know... thank you.

Assume she's checked with all the local police stations/animal rescue centres? It sounded bizare to me but a couple of years ago we lost a horse!!! We rang our local police station they recorded all the details but didn't do anymore. Whilst searching we met a policeman who told us it may well be worth ringing other local police stations as they wouldn't necessarily pass on the details between each other. We then contacted another police station (approx 15 miles away) and they had details of a horse found wandering in their area (a local farmer had kindly shut him in a field!) All ended well, but it had taken an entire day to track him down!

I hope your friend finds her dogs, sending lots of good vibes!

Thanks Puzzled and Minerva. Yep, she's been in touch with all the local police and animal centres, and put posters about. Minerva I'll go and see her today and see if she'll put the dogs on Doglost. She should, it's a great site. Puzzled, good idea about other police stations...glad you got your horse back BTW!!

My gut feeling is that someone less honest has picked them up, they are both very pretty, and popular types of dogs.

Dog Wardens assumed that this dog had been injured in an RTA, vet
believes injury is not new.

All these dogs were found in roughly the same area (the Malamute and
Labrador were together)and the Collie was found not far from where they
were picked up by the finder. NFDC has a theory that they may all have
been dumped together?

Any enquiries via NFDC Dog Warden service please. Neil Burton, Dog Warden, New Forest District Council
Tel: 02380 285446 Fax: 02380 285127 Email: neil.burton@nfdc.gov.uk

Hope they are reunited with their owners.

Thanks Goya, I'll pass this on to the missing dogs' owner. I don't think the Malamute or the lab/retriever sound like hers, but the collie is a possibility. Cheers for your help.

Hi, I've just looked at the region where these 2 dogs are missing from, and I don't think the Husky and Collie are from here, but you never know. Also Husky found is a bitch, and the ages aren't the same, though I have known wrong descriptions, and I've known many cases where the dogs have been microchipped and they haven't been found when they've been scanned (happened to my own dogs cos vet hadn't put a new battery in his scanner!)

I've just received photos of the Border Collie and the found Husky. If anyone wants to see them, please email me privately at colliebird@tiscali.co.uk cos I don't know how to upload them here.
