So I posted in comp riders but no one seems remotely interested...maybe I'm not popular enough, so I am tormenting the lovely users of the lounge.
Its a two for one comp report as I was out wednesday and today
Wednesday we went to Burrows Court, somehow time got away from me a bit (despite my first test being 12.23) so I didn't really have very long to warm up. First was Novice 28, I felt it went well, not our best performance but reasonable. We came 5th in the Restricted with 67.08% the standard was quite high (think 1st was 75%) so I was quite pleased.
Second was Novice 37, I felt it was all going so well we got to the second change rein in canter, give & retake the reins then counter canter and he just dropped out of canter over the centre line...I was lost, couldn't get the counter canter back so we scored 4 then 2 it was my fault for not keeping him up together more especially when we'd got an 8 for the same movement on the other rein Anyway, came away with 62.5% which actually left us second in the restriced if we hadn't lost the canter (and all those marks) we would possibly have won
There was a photographer there & I bought a pic of one of the medium trots as I don't have any professional pics, but we actually look **** so it put me a big downer for the rest of the week. So much so that I didn't go back in the school until today at the next show
Today we were at Badgworth. I have been thinking about throwing the first test, as he ignores your leg at shows, I had way too much time to warm up (about an hour) but I used it wisely. Loads of walking just getting him to relax his tense neck & back and then lots of transitions to make sure he was off my leg! Into Novice 27 & The Welsh Cob showed his socks off, he was so amazing I felt it was the best test we've ever done! We managed 70% leaving us 2nd in the Restricted and the judges comments made me smile; "A horse who is well established at this level. He keeps lift and elevation well. Well ridden."
Unfortunately we then had a nearly 3 hour break in this heat and after working his socks off he just went off the boil. I tried to warm up in a similar manner, transitions etc but he just wasn't the same. We came 4th in the Restricted with 67.69% which is still a great score but such a shame when he'd be so stellar in the non qualifier.
So sadly we will not be going to the Regionals this time round, but I really felt like we stepped up a level today in the first test, so I don't mind Oh and a fellow HHOer spotted me, but I didn't get her name, so hello again if you're reading
Wine, Cookies, Chocolate, whatever is your poison for getting to the end
