2 loose horses appeared from the road onto our yard today, if you know anyone missing a black colt or a distictively coloured mare, please contact either me by pm or (probably better) Surrey Police. Thanks
Thanks, yes I'd be panicking if they were mine, but they look happy to be having a holiday, were herded into one of our rested fields so are stuffing themselves on VERY good grass! I hope they find us soon too- the colt is a little...erm 'boisterous'!
Nope, have tried most of the yards we know of nearby, no joy. Its very strange because we are off a reasonably busy road, about a mile from the next nearest lot of yards, so we don't really understand how they managed to get to us without being run over or at least noticed and reported to the police previously?
Abandonment is a possibility we were wondering about, really hope not, because from what the police and ilph said, it will be a nightmare. And as i mentioned, we could do without the colt! Hopefully will get a phone call from police soon saying someone has reported them missing, fingers crossed they've just been at work all day.
Surrey Police have been informed, as have Surrey Action for Equine and Ted Barnes, ILPH. Sorry, can't send photo's at mo, mostly cos i don't have them on me, but have been advised not to give more details out so the rightful owners can be identified. Seems silly to me, but is apparently what the police recommend.
I can see their point, you give us a detailed description I could ring them up and say yep they are mine, describe them to a T and come and get them, there are some horrid people out there
They're prob pikey ponies if no one has called - we used to find loads loose in the common behind us - bloody frustrating! Hope they're not though and get home soon x
Have you had a vet check them over to see if they are micro-chipped? Or tattooed - inside the lip?
If a couple of horses answering that description were found around this area, we would assume they belonged to the gypsies. If they DO belong to gypsies, I doubt whether they would go to the police to report them missing.
I do hope the mystery is solved very soon. Sounds as though the colt could become a bit of a problem!!!
This happened a few times at our yard, the gypsies would dump one or two off- we would wonder where the hell they came from, feed, water and look after them (and de- worm and louse the rest of the yard!!) but they normally came back to collect them at some point. It may well be what has happened here.
If not I hope somebody gets on contact soon and is'nt going out of their mind with worry
