Ill start with the jumping as I do think I have an action plan... What happens we approach a jump, having good impulsion going up my mare will stutter and lose confidence. I keep my leg on right up to the jump and dont give my hands away. Im thinking lots of pole work building to a small X at the end of poles and building up to getting her going over grids and also working on our canter impulsion when schooling... Anybody think of anything else I could do?
Now this is a far tricker one.. Had my mare since 11 months. She was a youngster from hell, she would bite, charge at you in the field and corner you or if you went to jump on a fence out the way she would stop turn and kick you.. had my shins kicked in a few times when I got caught out! She was a pretty awful rearer too, I couldnt lead her do anything really, and it wasnt a little rear, im talking full out rearing, striking out and going for blood rears..
Anyway.. She's now 7 and I dont like to blow my own trumpet, but being on my own with no help and being the first youngster I'd ever broken have got her into a very quiet, lovely I would even say a first horse type
Apart from one teeny-weeney problem.... If I fall out hacking, or get off to say; lead across a small bridge, I will end up walking home. She wil revert to her rearing, not nasty but will put the front legs out so you have to get out the way sharpish, then she will play a god damn game with me, she'll let me get almost to getting hold of the reins, sometimes I even get hold of the reins, soon as I go to get on she'll swing her ass round or rear. This will continue, sometimes me chasing her up and down a field till she decides shes bored and heads back home... Frustration doesnt cover it!! lol
Any tips? Pretty stumped. Bear in mind, its just me and I dont have a trainer or anyone really to help.
Thanks for any advice
