Seen by 3 separate villagers in Black Bourton. Silver car. When rider tried to confront they left.

I don't think they were *photographing to steal* - far from it, if I am honest I reckon this HOAX is going further than just text messages and emails and there are people having an inordinate amount of fun photographing and trying to scare people! I will hazard guess that somewhere on the web there is a website like ours that is full of *men* laughing at the hysteria they are causing!

Anyway, just thought I would report it as has been requested. We haven't bothered the police - nothing to report TBH!

didn't two people get arrested the other day for doing that Kent way? I got a text about it, and a week ago got a text from someone else saying a few people had been caught in a white van and a red land cruiser taking pictures perhaps ready to steal???? This was around Sussex Surrey way!

Nope, one was a 15 year old on a pony, one was our YM who only realised what they were doing this morning when she was told by the girl and the other was the girl's mother who was concentrating on what the pony was doing rather than anything else

YM only told me this evening, and said "do you think it might have anything to do with the stuff circulating at the moment" - I did ask why neither of the adults had ASKED them what they were doing, or take down the number - ho hum! Have told them all expressly that if the they see the car again they are to get the number to me immediately so I can tell you!

I agree with Weezy I think someone is having a complete laugh at us all logging sightings of cars/vans with cameras!! As mentioned before this hysteria will make us perhaps more complacent and the real "THIEVES" will have easy pickings of tack rooms and horses. The true facts ONLY must be logged and not 3rd/4th hand rumours!!

Someone I know was photographed the other day whilst hacking her horse down the road unfortunately she was too concerned getting her horse out of sight quickly to take the reg down!

It's quite common for my donkeys to be photographed by HGV drivers and little old ladies alike.
Should I be worried?

I believe not, people have always taken photos of horses they like the look of, or are even worried about.

I took some photos of a horse tethered almost outside my field recently. maybe I should be reported.

Anyone want to give me their mobile numbers so I can start texting?

I know this is all very serious, but I do believe we are in the middle of a large hoax or mass hysteria.

Hmmm...I feel like a hypocrite now after my posts earlier today

I think everyone was taken in, that's what mass hysteria is all about - I'm waiting for Derren Brown to appear saying it's all his fault!

Yesterday, a man was taking pictures of some local children riding their ponies in their field. The police where told. following morning cones had been put at the entrence to their field off the main road to direct, what i assume, lorries to come collect the ponies.

Strange strange.............but like you have said could have been completely innocent. Police have been around to a few local houses, yards etc, just tellin people to keep an eye out which is fair enough.

Sorry but WHAT???!!! Do you know the people involved? Did they tell you that they did not put the cones there? Maybe the owners put the cones there to stop people using it as a layby?

I was taking photos of my own horses yesterday. I noticed someone was watching me from the footpath & suddenly I felt quite nervous that a new round of texts was about to start!

probably completly irrelevant! but a few months ago (it was a while ago not recent) i was out with two young girls on there ponies hacking up a quiet country lane when a white van pulled over and asked to take a photo of us..the guys were foreign (i couldnt tell you how many of them there were or were they where from because i didnt take any notice atall) and they took a photo..what was weird was they were only taking photos of the piebald shetland one of the girls had out (unusual colourings) and completly ignored the very pretty dappled grey show pony infront of it taking absoloutly no photos of it atall. nothing has happened since (ponies are safe etc etc) just with all these texts and emails going around it made me think of this.. i didnt report it to the police i hope this all amounts to idiots having so called fun..

OH. MY.GOD.

Lock up the children.

You are right, completely irrelevant no doubt.

Tourists ask to take pics of us out riding all the time. Holy jeepers, some are not english

Maybe the grey is actually ugly

About a month ago we were riding down the road. a lorry was coming towards us with 3 occupants and as we were almost upon them a flash went off - they took a pic of us and it scared us to death LMAO!!

someone stopped me and asked to photograph me, my son and pony.

Gave me an email address as he claimed he was a bone fide photographer and said he would send me a copy of the photo...

Guess what? the email address didnt exist.

perhaps because I was reading the whole thread?

I wasnt nasty about your post in any way, just pointing out that the same had happened to me
