Hey! Thought it was a good opportunity to post some pictures of my 2 new baby weanlings (ones not weaned yet but will be arriving in the next month or 2) as I love to see other peoples pictures - if there is a picture on a thread 99% of the time I'll open it as I do love to be nosey and see other peoples horses :)

This is my new little filly, I've given her the yard name of Duffy - though Im not entirely sure Im taken on it.

and my little colt, as yet undecided on his colour he can genetically be buckskin or smokey black I think (colour genetics and I dont mix at all!! :o)

Any CC's are always welcome I like to know people's honest opinions :)

I think they are both really ugly and you should be embarrassed to put up photos of them, you should send them both to me immediately and I will hide them for you so that nobody knows you bought ugly youngsters!!:)

Seriously, they are gorgeous, love the markings on the filly. I hope you have loads of fun with them as they grow, I love youngsters!

Thank you :) Can't wait to pick the filly up although the 450 mile round trip does not fill me with joy :(

I have the little filly's full sister too - she's called Bunty so Buffy and Bunty does have a ring to it, although I did have a guinea pig called Buffy who came to an timely end thanks to a farm worker's terrier .. the name reminds me of bad times as a 12 year old!!!

Is your filly from Havenbeech? She's lovely.

Your colt looks like he's shedding his foal coat in the photos. His next coat might come through a lot darker. I'm leaning towards smoky black, mainly because he reminds me of the smokey black sec D that used to live down the road. She had pale fur inside her ears too.

What colour are his parents?

Indeed she is :) jodi really does produce some beauties :)

Dam was bay and white tobiano and sire is cremello and his grand sire is cremello and grand dam is palomino so in theory should be carrying the creme gene (I think?)

I'm starting to think smokey black too as where he's had an itch and rubbed some foal fluff off its black

When I win the lottery, I'll have to go and see her youngstock. ;) :)

He's definitely got cream then, it's just whether or not he also has agouti.

He really does remind me of the Welsh filly and she was DNA tested. The same lady had some champagnes too. Unfortunately she sold up and moved away. I have a couple of photos of the champagnes though.

A horse cannot carry the cream gene as it is not recessive.
As you seem obsessed with dilutes it would make sense to learn how the colours are inherited and why buy a possibly black foal? A smoky black looks the same as a black without cream.
Is the filly going to be grey?

Critical comments but no need to be rude.

I'm not obsessed, even though I prefer them. I bought him because I felt sorry for him.

No she won't grey as she is gg.

I am learning but seeing as I'm not going to make my career around breeding dilute foals, and time is limited with horses and studying a uni degree i do what I can and ask what I can and when

There is always one rotten Apple that spoils a thread.

S4sugar ... sorry I took your comment to heart rather so I apologise, sometimes things read differently in your head.

I am learning slowly but am not obsessed, but I know what I like and I do prefer them.

You have been very helpful to me in the past with questions so hope u accept the apology.. anyhow I'm off to bed before I snap at anyone else!!

Just seen this post & i was wondering the same thing just as i read your comment lol.....Havenbeech stock seem quite distinctive :)

Love them both, but slighlty prefer the colt. It's more than likely the camera angle but the filly looks to have a bit of an upright shoulder and short neck.. would love to see a pic of her stood up properly. Please don't be offended by my comment.. like I said its probably the camera angle.

If sire is cremello then all offspring with have the cream gene and so foal cannot be black - must be either smokey black or buckskin.

they are beautiful OP
agree with Shilasdair that conf is more important that colour however .

please dont buy horses because you feel sorry for them or people will keep on breeding inferior stock :(

How many horses do you have now..!!?

Nooo not for breeding, I hope to bring on and break and I guess then sell over the next few years. I enjoy the process of breaking, I know it will never make me money but its what I enjoy.

I have too many lula and I do have a couple advertised due to personal circumstances, illness and unforeseen happenings. I agree in someways, you shouldn't buy horses you feel sorry for but at the end of the day they need a home and there's nothing you can do once they have been born. The responsibility lies with the owners of the mares and stallion. The colt on paper shouldn't have EVER been bred. His dam was 2 when she was put with the unlicensed stallion - we didn't breed him before anyone asks!!! :/
