i bought a weatherbeeta arion combo in a clearance sale a couple of months ago, for 80 pounds. i got it in solos usual size of 6'6. he is a 16.1hh TB. last week i bought a LW weatherbeeta, in 6'6, but this is quite baggy around his bum and could do with being a bit smaller across his shoulders.thet both have the 'freestyle' system etc.

so my 2 questions are....

do weatherbeeta rugs come up large?

is the freestyle system any good?

thankyou in advance!

I don't think they come up big? I have them for my tbx ( old and a bit lean) and they fit spot on each time, turnout and stable rugs

Ive found them generous in depth and general coverage but not anything more than usual in length. Id say they fit my TB x (built like a racehorse!) and my Welsh Cob (chunk as hell) both very well. They're the only rugs Ive found to fit both my totally opposite types!

The freestyle thing is ok. I mean, TBH I have an old style (just the usual gusset) Arion Combo and also the new style Oricans and dont find much difference in them.

My Weatherbeeta stable rugs are spot on in size, certainly not too big. As for the Freestyle well I hate it, actually Weatherbeeta turnout rugs in general don't fit my horse although the normal stable rugs fit perfectly.

Compared to Masta they are more generous, but I just say Masta are too small for their sizing. Since I prefer my rugs a little generous, I go for 6.3 in WB when 6.6 in Masta is still too neat, just doesn't sit neatly. Not much help I'm afraid..

I find they all come up small, i use fals or Bucas on all my horses. In a Fal my 17'1 takes a 6ft9 and it fits beautifully. If I put on a weatherbeeta i have to go to a 7ft3 and it is too narrow, not deep enough and just does not fit at all.

i have 3 freestyle combo rugs & i think they come up big

my 16.1 idx is in 6fts!

i do like the freestyle system , generally fit my horse well & caused no rubbing , he was out up to 12 hours a day in winter in one or another

Weathebeeta will not fit either of mine across the chest area, I struggle with rugs but have found that the Masta rugs do fit across the chest, but I buy a size bigger.

I have the Arion Combo on all four of mine, but find that the two TB's could do with a size smaller than what they normally are, but the other two who are TB x Welsh and TB x ID they fit them well in there usual sizes. After all that I do like the rugs and they have wintered well on my horses and they are all rather energetic in the field.....

I love weatherbeeta rugs, they are good quality and fit both my Welsh b x Arab and Welsh D very well unlike loveson and masta. It really is down to the shape of each individual horse though and the design the owner prefers.

now mine is the other way! Masta are too tight on her chest in her usual 6'3 size, but with Weatherbeetas, I find the freestyles are fine, and the fusion style (I have the heavyweight stable and a taka turnout in the matching style) are really generous and she can even get away with a 6'.

I can't get away with MT on her shoulders either which is a shame as they are lovely rugs, just too high and tight on madam's chunky neck.

I love the WB ones!

Wont fit mine with big chests, always go for fal. Very expensive but worth every penny. Have to say that Rambo dont fit either, even the excel is not that big round chest and neck. WB fit the warmbloods and tb fine.
