1. We are thinking of going out for a first days 'proper' hunting on sunday (we usually mock) should i be wearing my tweed or navy jacket? it says on the website as a newcomer you can wear your tweed but then says about opening meet, cheltenham festival and i got a bit lost (blonde!) but then it says "black jacket and black velvet hat" does it matter that my stuff is navy then? sorry if im being thick !!!

2. Has anyone been out with the coakham bloodhounds before?
they are meeting very close to us so we are trying to sort out going. I am nervous already :smirk:

I would wear tweed if I were you. It is fine to wear tweed all through the season but you can only wear black/navy between opening meet and in this case Cheltenham (our hunt is 1st march). If you don't have a hunt coat a tweed jacket will be much warmer and hard wearing.

I hope you enjoy it!

I spoke to a regular and they said it is fine to wear tweed if you want to and it is ok if the jacket/hat is navy. Also a big bonus is you don't need to plait!

I'll be there on Sunday too!

I went out twice last season with Coakham and wore navy jacket with BP over the top!!..not very PC but checked with the master (who I knew anyway) and she said it was fine to wear one navy and BP over the jacket on first few times. Most people I seem to recal were in navy...you dont have to plait but I did as I wanted to look smart!!!...very fast day but much more organised than mock hunt!!!..enjoy!

The jumps aren't massive probably the same sort of size as in your pic. It is fast but if you have brakes you can be more sedate and stay at the back!

well she is pretty nippy, i'm not expecting her to have enough Go to last the whole day but we'll see, the little ones normally pull out all the stops from somewhere!

After reading that little snippet I may well venture out as well - I was umming and arring as have only ridden her twice since boxing day hunting and was feeling she may not be big hedge ready, but it sounds like lots of xc courses which will be lots of fun :) will have to sort out some brakes though!! :)

there were no big hedges today or not that i saw anyway!! mostly timber and some nice XC fences.

it was fantastic will definately go again, i was worried my little pony wouldnt keep up but she was up the front for the first line having missed the first jump out !! gave me so much confidence jumping 3ft solid fences from that speed all without a problem i didnt think i could jump that big !! :D
