2 stage vetting any good?

I've never done on any of my own ones, but I do think it is helpful, as soundness/double checking eyes/age etc are covered at least so anything niggling or potential problems in future can be picked up that you couldn't necessarily just see.

The ones that have been done on ours, have cost around the £170 mark.

For me it would depend on how much the 3 year is costing you and what your plans are for it.

When I was getting quotes, a 2 stage was around £150 I think

I don't think the cost of the horse should enter the equasion, it cost just as much to treat a problem in a cheap horse as an expensive one doesn't it?

A 2 stage vetting isn't as thorough as a 5 stage but lungs, heart, eyes, gait etc will be checked. I believe its money well spent.

Get a 2 Stage done

i have just had two horses done the first one looked lovely on the outside and went well i was about to pay £1750 for this 4 yr old until the vetting uncovered a major heart problem if i hadnt had the vetting done it would of only showed its head when the horse was under work and by this time i would be left having to foot the bill for vet work....

the second horse i have had vetting was going to cost me 1k he passed the 2 stage vetting with flying colours so at least i know he is straight before i start

My friend just paid for a 2 stage on a £500 3.5 year old pony. Vetting cost £130 Inc vat. Felt it was worth it for peace of mind. Pony passed no probs.
