Back in July Rosie our sprocker broke a tooth, one of her front bottom incisors. The vet took it out as it was dying and split in half. £170 later she came home and we have been really careful to minimise what she plays with- no stones or sticks but it is very very difficult as she has the run of the farm and goes to visit lots of people every day, who often throw something for her to fetch. We've told most people not to throw sticks or stones though.
A couple of weeks ago she broke another incisor this time a front top one. She's broken it right to the gum and the vet has seen it saying it will have to come out once it becomes trouble for her, at the moment it isn't bothering her.
I've just had a look in her mouth again this morning and the front bottom incisor next to the one that was removed is 2 different shades and wobbly.
I'm despairing, she's not even 2 yet! Otherwise her teeth are really healthy and white. I can't see how it's her chewing things because obviously they don't chew with their incisors. She's fed fish4dogs salmon large bite if that makes any difference. I don't know what else to do? Obviously £180 to remove a tooth each time gets a tad expensive although we do have insurance, but I am wondering if there's a weakness or ongoing issue to make them brittle? Anyone got any advice or experience they could share?
