2 years ago on the 3rd of May, A little skewbald mare came into my life. I hoped to regain my confidence on her and I have done just that! We have had many ups and downs, lameness, time off work, pysio, moved yard, became fitter and I gained more confidence, Behaviour change due to individual turnout, got kicked, back to old yard, now a relaxed happy Horsey. I've gone from not even being able to walk on a patch of grass without turning into a wreck, to cantering in open spaces. I had a nice ride to celebrate, but ended up falling off (now sporting a huge bruise!) wasn't Ruby's fault though, so got back on and carried on. We have a planned ride coming up and we are hiring a XC course with some fellow liveries in the next month or so. Heres some photos throughtout our journey together
First day I got her (she was 5 here) underweight (can't quite see through all the fluff!)

Began getting her fitter through the summer

Making friends with my old share Horse Nelly (they are so in love!)

The lameness problems started so I roughed her off whilst she was undergoing pysio and steriod injections, after 3 months I could ride again, started with hacking, did my first ever clip

Hacked for the next few months and then had a lesson which changed everything (for the better) Had my first fall from her (YO took her off me and untacked and when I came round the corner she was pulling this face)

I moved to a nearer yard and worked on getting her fit (the blue spray was because she had an infected cut from a kick!)

Continued hacking and schooling in nearby fields, my confidence really grew and we went to a show to wander round (didn't enter) took us 5 1/2 hours as we got very very lost! the second photo shows Ruby the next day after our mammouth hack

Coming into winter and I clipped (got a pro to do it this time)

and then things went very wrong for us, she got moved onto her individual turnout paddock and lost the plot! she became a real handful. Wouldn't eat as was too stressed, kept escaping from her field. She got a bad kick and ended up being on boxrest for a month, this was when I decided to move yard. I still kept in touch with old YO and she asked me to come back so I jumped at the chance.
She relaxed straight away, went back out with her old herd and I began schooling again and free schooling.
First time back out with herd and she heads straight to her pal Nelly

Free schooling

And finally a photo from the other day, doing something I never thought I would do again, canter in a big open space

I couldn't imagine my life without her. She will be with me for life now.
Thanks for looking x
