2 yr old

Viewing a cob who was 2 in may and She’s standing at 11.3 and the lady said she will make 13.2 so wondering if that sounds about right x

I'm no expert on animals that size and breeding but that sounds very hopeful to me. I had a 16 hand 2 year old make 17 hands by six. A 15.1 4 year old cob make 15.3+ by 7. A 3 year old tb who didn't grow another millimetre. A 15h 2½ year old who made nearly 16.2 at 8, shooting up after being castrated.

I really don't think you could rely on nearly two more hands in a horse that's only 11.3 at 2. Others who know the type better might correct me on that, but if you need the bigger height don't buy the horse unless you are prepared to sell her, because there's no guarantee she will make it even if many do.

There's a way of measuring their legs that gives a fairly good idea of their final height. I'll go & look up a link & edit it in. (That sounds a bit ambitious to me. Is she telling you what you want to hear?)

Thank you and I no prob cuz I have said I need nothing below 13.2 so prob shot my self in foot there I’ve not bought her though so least I’m checking before I did haha she’s beautiful and Chucky but I’m also Chucky so wouldn’t want to hurt her only reason why I’m going for 13.2 or over xx

I think there is very little chance of 13.2. 12.2 may be more realistic though I once had a 13.0 2yo who ended up as a wider 13.0 adult.
Try a string test on her but she is unlikely to make big enough for you.
At my stables there is currently a 5yo 13.0hh Blagdon cob whose novice owners were told was going to make 14.2 when they bought it as a 2yo.

I bred a filly that was by a 16hh sire and out of a 14hh mare. She was 13.3hh by 2 and 14hh full grown. Only thing I used to guarantee when selling youngsters was that they wouldn't get smaller.
Haha yeah that’s a good one haha my thoughts now are get one what hight your happy at right now grow any more bonus

I'm doubtful that she'll reach that height. It can be a bit of a gamble with younger horses regarding how much they'll grow. I string tested my 2 year old recently and if it's right, he'll be close to 17hh, so I'm hoping that it's wrong! He's got long legs though.
