I just about give up this year. I went away for new year, came back, brought horse into work for 2 days and he got a septic joint from a blackthorn. 3 months later I was due to ride for the first time yesterday and he came in and had mild colic. Give me strenth! I have had this horse 6 years now and never had any problems yet they all keep coming now.
He is fine this morning after I left at midnight last night, my house is upside down with a ripped out kitchen , my husband had the strops because of the house and I wasn't there and I never got to see my son last night for bedtime. My stress levels are at breaking point.
Whatever I did in a previous life, i'm sorry, can you send some good karma over now please.

Good karma is shooting its way to you as we speak. I have some left over from my dramas this month!

Listen, stop stressing out think how lucky you are. You own a house, yes the kitchen is a bit manic but that will be sorted out and turned into a brand new one! You have a horse, a huge luxury which you are very lucky to have. I always think everything is a learning curve and gives us experience to handle it if it happens again. So what if your horse is off at the moment – its got to happen eventually – nothing’s perfect! My mare was so ill this month and my baby boy had a ‘moment’ last month but it’s the first time in 2 years so I can’t complain too much. I have been worried about moving them to another yard which is better but I get worried about whether it is the right decision. My partner last night said, look, you are worrying about your mare’s viral infection which is being sorted and which yard to move your horses to – he said get a grip and some perspective – he’s right!

Take a day off with your husband, go for a pub lunch and a stroll somewhere. Sometimes a change of scenery is great for the mind. I think we all fall into a spiral of worry and forget that most of the time its never as bad as it seems.
