Looking forward to spring, my cob will be 3 and am going to start her education :) planning lots of walks, long reining etc and hopefully be riding her gently by the end of next autumn, turning her away for the winter and bringing her into work spring 2012 :D
Had her since she was 10 months old, so really looking forward to starting work with her.
She was last measured at 14hh a few moths back, measuring her again next week, hoping she will make at least 15hh. Shes quite a big stocky girl already so even though am tall - 5"10 (am only 9 stone) she should take up my leg :)
So anyone else with a baby to start next year? what are your horsey goals for next year?
:D

I love the fun of bringing on a youngster :) Can't wait to see pics and updates!

As for me going to start eventing but saving up for an air jacket first and need to find some breaks :D

for me i want to do lots more jumping shows, cross country, hunter trials, and sponsored rides. oh and also go to the beach with my pony :)

aww, the joys of bringing a youngster on :D, im planning on buying a four year old in possibly november, to bring on to compete, whether or not it will happen or not is a different story, and also for 2011 get taz out in the show ring a bit more doing show hunter and dressage and lots of working hunter :D maybe do some young horse classes as he is only 5 will be 6 in april though :S

I backed the baby this summer so will be working her through the winter and hopefully taking her to some indoor dressage/sj comps. Planning to start xc schooling properly next springtime but in the meantime will be taking her over the little xc jumps we have around our hacking routes. The aim is to have her doing her 1st mini unaff ode's next may(ish) time and really hoping to take her to Milton Keynes 3DE next Sept (as long as it's still running.) Optimistic maybe but always loved a challenge and she's a very quick little learner! :D and as for Gem, lord only knows what next year will bring! Hopefully she'll stay sound and i can start riding her but i just think every day is a bonus with her now, bless her.

Good luck with backing ur.youngster!
I backed my 3 year old this year so plans are to back him in April. Then train him up for dressage. Hoping to be at novice level by the end of the year. Also do young dressage horse classes with him.
With my mare I am currently at preliminary with her so if I don't get to novice with her by end of the year, which I prob won't asacking a menage, then that'll be the aim for.next year so that I can hopefully affiliate her in 2012.
Also currently in process of buying a exmoor pony so will be 2/3 next year so will be long reining and biting and taking out for walks.
Plus will be my first year of uni starting this year to next so pass all my exams well as well.

Rest of this year & maybe spilling into 2011...

1) Find Adrian (ISH with EPSM) a nice hacking loan home.
2) Start BS & BD with Trev the racer.

After that, we will have to see how it goes.

To move to new premises to increase my livery yard business...wish to be able to offer alot more, like a horse bathing area etc etc.....and to be able to have a much better outdoor school. :D

Fab post, makes me really look forward to getting on with my girl!

In 2011 I would hope to be riding my girl again (off for ages due to a horrid sarcoid on her head right where the bridle rests, treatment improving it, v v slowly!).

After spending the bit of 2010 riding her, I was v nervous. Missing all this time getting on with her has made me determined not to let my nerves and lack of confidence hold us back.

So, I hope we will:
get out to more dressage (went from wouldn't trot to 2nd in a prelim last year!) and work on improving our way of going, by end of 2011 a decent novice test is our aim;
have a go at jumping! have done some tiny stuff at home and she has a really lovely natural honest jump, so I need to stop holding her back. By the end of 2011 I aim that we will be in a position to be nicely jumping the bsja 80cm classes. (oh does affiliated so would make much more sense to get them both out to the same shows so we aren't on the road so much!)
do a fun ride with her! missed the ones this year with her time off, so would love to get out and do that, would be great fun!
have a go at mini xc, think my girl would totally love it as she is a natural over the logs and tyres in the woods here!
take lessons, due to afforementioned lack of confidence I haven't had lessons (stupid!), we will take lessons and keep up with them!

Phew, think that is enough!! Mainly just enjoying my gorgeous mare and how far we have come already! Enjoying the journey rather than focusing on the destination!
