Mine for 2015 would be to develop a better feel for the correct canter jumping wise. I would like to be able to get and keep the correct canter round a whole course to help my SJ improve.

This is the one that I really would like to crack this in 2015!

What are your aims for 2015?

First and foremost to have two happy healthy horses.
Older horse- to bring him back into work after a tendon injury. Hopefully to do a few low key dressage comps but if not hacking sound would be great.
New young horse- to form a bond and get him to a few clinics and training shows.

But really for all my animals to be safe and sound xx

Medium winter regionals, medium BD winter champs, medium summer regionals, advanced medium area festivals and hopefully and advanced debut...

Oh, and help PS back the Goofman!!!!

To keep my old boy happy and healthy. He is just in hacking work now but still loving life. After returning my ex racer to the charity she came from due to too many issues I have a lovely 14.2 to play with. He belongs to yard owner who generously lets me ride him. He is very green so aim for this year is to get him out and about to some training clinics and shows and see what 2015 brings :)

Another year with no injuries would be amazing.
This year we are aiming to compete in our first Advanced Medium - both straight and freestyle classes. Don't think we're far away as the changes are nearly there. We only just started Medium but he's had over 65% both times out so aim to consolidate that work and improve on those scores.
We are also heading back to Badminton Grassroots, this time for the BE100 and after last year's disaster I would just like to make it through the finishing line as a pair with my horse having not tested out the hallowed turf with my bum!
Otherwise I'd just like to continue to have fun with him as he's the most amazing little horse anyone could wish for!

For the Spooky Pony, I hope to complete his Silver Thistle Final this year, and the Gold Thistle as well. That means either doing 1 x 80 km at 11 kph or more, and then another 2 x 80 km at 11--12.99 kph, or 1 x 80 km at 11 kph or more, and then another 1 x 80 km at 13 kph or more. I also hope to help him improve his front frogs, and do more clicker training with him in a more consistent fashion.

For the Ballerina Mare, I hope to get out competing more regularly, really establish her at Novice in the next few months, and aim for Elementary. And I'd like her to be truly white at least once, so we can get some proper pics!

:)

As others have said, most important is to have happy, healthy and sound horses.

Mine with my two are:
- To compete in some more Novice Dressage Classes and Show Jumping 70/80 possibly 90cm
- To concentrate on cross country once the weather becomes suitable
- To have a go at Arena Eventing
- To compete in some small unaffiliated ODEs over the summer
- To take my Appy on some pleasure rides in the summer and keep him ticking over before next season's hunting!
- Maybe do a bit more showing
- And the big one: To compete in a BE80 at the end of the summer/September time!

Quite a few, but I am going to work away at them and see where we get! Had a few fab outings the last few months with my ISH which has made me set us some higher goals!

Happy New Year everyone! :)

For my new forest to bring him back into work having had the past few months off, I'd like to just potter about with him having fun at home. I decided to retire him from showing at the summer nationals last year but if he's feeling up for it and the show/judges are right we might do one or two HOYS/RI qualifiers.

My connie mare that I backed last summer has been turned away since, so bring her back into work and start competing her. Aiming for all the novice showing qualfiers and small workers/showjumping, with maybe a few open riddens towards the end of the season depending on how she goes!

For my young connie gelding who is currently in light work I'd like to crack on with competing this year now he is both physically and mentally more mature! Haven't decided quite what to do yet so I think it will be a mix of everything affiliated. He had exceptional paces and is working at/above novice dressage at home but finds it boring and prefers jumping. He would excel at WHP so we might aim for some big qualifiers at the end of the season :)

Looking forward to 2015!

For me I would love to have a go at a newcomers and a BE Novice before I go on my work placement and for Alfies loaner to have a fantastic summer competing him whilst I am away.

To find a new horse! Thought I would have one by now, but it's proving more difficult than I thought it would be.

I'm really hoping I'll have found something by the end of Jan/start of feb. Then the aim is to get to know them and start doing a few little outings. The overall aim will be to have completed an ODE by the end of the year.

Horse 24yr old Veteran :D

To be healthy and happy is the main one
To try some trec
Go on a few common rides
Go on a few pleasure rides

Me
Better job
Move into a new flat
New car
Be happy

:D :D :D

New horse arriving tomorrow now :D So plans can be made! Contrast I'd like to find somewhere to love him, and not do any competing. Failing that if his soundness holds up a couple of 'scurry and trials' events :) Pip I'm hoping to get his second sheet for the veteran dressage championships in a few weeks, fingers crossed. Then he'll either have a relatively easy time being a hack until then or he might find someone who would like to loan him, locally. Slim chance he may be back up for sale.
New boy :D I'd like to get myself confidently competing round 95s by the end of the year, and have fun! Plenty of training and a scattering of showing, jumping and dressage along the way :D I might find a big championship to aim him at but for now I'm just planning if next weekend is too soon to take him out!

To have a happy, healthy and injury free baby horse would be lovely this year - injury he did last year was traumatic enough so dont fancy that again!

But I do have a few aims beyond being major injury free.....
1. To learn to long-rein (taking myself off on a course in March hopefully)
2. Take baby horse out to a few parties in the summer for the in-hand youngstock showing classes (never done showing before so that could be interesting!)
3. Tackle the challenge that is my friend's nutty wb x appy - that in itself is an entire sub-category:
- bring him back into work after 6-8 months being turned away
- that starts with groundwork to build the trust (he was neglected for years before friend got him and I started riding him)
- teach him how to accept the bit & bridle again (had many teeth problems due to said neglect)
- long-rein him and get him working really well from the ground
- get back on board again and not have any more major spooking/falling off incidents
- get him hacking out calmly and sensibly without any major spooks/tension
4. By the end of September have taken him out to a venue that is not the school at our yard and successfully do some work there (jumping or a bit of dressage schooling - he seems to enjoy jumping more so may go with that)
5. If no. 4 goes well, by the end of 2015 take him to his first show (aged 9 he is well behind the times bless him) - again jumping or dressage TBC depending on what he responds best to

So that will keep me incredibly busy I think - baby horse will take a back seat once the big crazy creature is dragged out of the field again, but he takes everything in his little ginger stride so I'm not worried about baby not doing much other than a couple of local showing parties, hopefully he'll enjoy seeing some of the world before he becomes a big grown up dressage pony in a few years time!

Good luck everyone with your plans - here's to a good year!

Overall, this year I want to have a lot of fun, and keep my horses happy and healthy. I moved from a small yard to a competition yard early November, so I could do more training, also the hacking is really good so they do loads of that too! In 2015 I want to get my rising 4yo riding away, and go to a few shows. No real plans for her, will just see how she takes to things and work from there. I aim to register my ex racer bsja for the first time, and get some BN and disco clears if possible! And my 16.2 mare I want her to have as little temper tantrums as possible! And hopefully jump some fox and 1.30 dcs, and have a go at young riders :). But mainly I want to have loads of fun and loads of nice weather( here's hoping! ) :)

Aside from the usual praying to the gods of soundness, wellness and horsebox mechanics our aims mainly centre round our new-found foray into the world of hairy pony BD. Firstly to qualify summer regionals at prelim, then to do some novices and qualify petplans at novice (stretch target!) and to do a freestyle novice to music and get my hairy pony to dance! Need to find the right music for that! I'd also like to get a couple of sheets that say he is working over the back as opposed to he needs to work over the back!!

Aside from that, I have joined a gym in a quest to develop abs like Adeline (or something like that) and some semblance of control over my lower leg would be nice as well.

Oh, and I'd love to do some mini hunter trials / XC and not have a refusal at the first fence as seems to be our party piece currently.

Good point, I think that everyone's number one priority is that our horses are happy, healthy and sound.

Good one! so yes that will be priority nr 1.
After that getting to know my new mare and hopefully getting out and about lots and then building up a great relationships with her.
For my other mare, just keeping her happy! she is now just a happy hacker and hopefully that will work out for her.
And as a plus I would love to learn how to SJ properly. I now have a very capable horse so no more excuses!

For my boy to stay sound, healthy and happy is obviously number 1.

Provided he is all of these things we want to try and aim to do as much eventing as possible. We need XC practice as he is a bit of a wimp with xc jumps. He loves water, ditches and steps, logs (except silver birch) etc but it's painted xc fences that are suspicious! :) He says XC should be brown!!!!

If he's still not keen XC we will just do a bit if everything this summer. Would like to do more dressage, be able to jump nicely round a 90cm course and maybe have a go at showing.

Basically have a go at everything and just have fun! :)

Ooo also do more hacking as there's not a lot he loves more than a good gallop!

Rara007 - look forward to pictures of your outings and poster who is doing western as well as everyone else's.

Mine is to be able to ride my horse relatively well and get rid of some of those oh so ingrained bad riding habits.

Have a good year all.

Great thread! For me, firstly it has to be keeping a now 21 year old Saf happy, sound and continuing her work as usual. She's very low mileage and thinks she's still 7 :D

Disasters aside, I would love to qualify for BD Areas at prelim before I hit 30 (end Aug), which I think is a nice goal. Would also like to compete at novice (would be nice). Other than that, it's just continuing to train and learn as much as possible. On a personal level, I would like to get my BHS PTT and S3 done as well :)

All the best everyone, and remember:

crack right canter strike off consistently now that the hipo has *touchwood* finally stopped growing then out to a few unafil prelims before affiliating BD and aiming for regionals/ petplans/ whatever we are eligible for. Then look to testablish some degree of medium trot and try some unafil novice before the end of the year.

Other than that he's going to make his showing debut and have some fun trips out to Somerford Park/ Craven or something similar :)

Aiming to have a lot of fun with my new mare, work hard on the flat as I now have the use of an amazing school and improve my jumping position and all the rest :)

firstly improve my own fitness, balance and core strength in order to really improve my riding in the next 9 months.
Be competing novice by the end of the year, possibly starting to work elementary at home.
Complete a BE80 with a double clear
Have my instructor compete him at BE90 & maybe a BE100 if he goes well at 90...

We shall see though! Medical school exams to pass first...

Mine is feeling his age at the moment so we have had a tildren treatment today to try and help him. Realistically I think competing is going to be minimal so I am happy to enjoy some pleasure rides with him this year. He loves them and has perfect manners on them.
From a personal point of view I am going to try and tidy up my technique to something more conventional and less flappy with lessons on other horses.

Last year I had loads of competitive goals and we had a great season really! But in sept he tore his annular ligament and we're halfway though boxrest/rehab so main aim is to get him sound and back In the field poor lad! Anything else is a bonus :-) we're moving up to Newcastle on Monday so I really hope we both settle and he will just be hacking in the summer so looking forward to exploring the area (hopefully!)

My number one goal is to be able to keep my horse - current circumstances may mean I have to loan/sell or turn him away.

Assuming I am able to keep him then I'd like him to get his BN and Disco double clears, and for him to start jumping Newcomers.

I'd like to take him to Hickstead this year. I'd also like to do some xc with him and maybe try his hand at eventing.

Mainly I'd just like to have some fun with him though, so if we can accomplish that then I'll be happy.

Mainly for both of mine to remain injury free and healthy. For my eventer I would like to qualify for a three star by the end of the season and for my dressage diva to compete at Elementary level following her year off through injury.
