Well final until Xmas anyway! It was 6 degrees this morning and felt very autumnal.

Off yard plans have ground to a halt with lorry problems. Did arena hire this morning, lowered ramp & the strut went with a bang again. 3rd time in a week so "something" odd going on. OH had to be summoned off golf course so underwhelmed.

After a month of feeling that Turbo cob had very much lost his turbo & a poor showing at Addington i got my measuring tape out for the panels WOW insisted were the same length as old size 0. Half an inch longer. Big shout out to my saddler who read my message last weekend and came out yesterday to move us back to her old stock. Turns out 1/2 inch really does matter when you are a short backed turbo cob. Some awesome canter work this morning and he was really engaging his back. I feel awful (& response from WOW HO means they won't have any more shout outs from me on SM 🙄)

I had grand plans for the long weekend but with no transport we will be hacking! (& investigating self drive hire options...)

Oh how fustrating about the WOW panels and their poor response, but very glad you could get it sorted and that it has made such a difference.

Very frustrating problem but reassuring to know there is nothing more serious going on.

Hacking and rode in the xc field ... Not that we jumped anything 😅 Thursday, hopefully hack tonight and then away to visit friends over the weekend. Back Monday to record an e dressage test hopefully I can remember to enter the right section this time. Pics cos she's cute and the scenery is 👌IMG-20250821-WA0010.jpg

Have roped my mum into coming up to help me bath Sadie a week out from our little show (still haven't entered 😂) which should be silly and fun.

Will just hack probably, if the yard is quiet I might try a little school and see how she feels about canter these days but it's quite deep atm and she hates a soft deep surface with her dodgy stifles so maybe won't bother

Cleaning my filthy filthy tack should slot in here somewhere but odds are low

This is extremely annoying, but at least you know what the problem was and it's easily solved! If only they could talk 😭

Schooled today. B is feeling very enthusiastic after a jumping lesson last week, and decided that poles on the ground need leaping over. 🙈

Bathed him afterwards, as planning to clip this weekend. Have been watching YouTube videos as I'm determined not to make such a hash of it this time! 😳

On Sunday, we are trying a new hacking route that Mr SC has scouted on his bike.

Feet trimming Monday am, will probably go for a good long hike in the afternoon.

Have a good one everyone 👍 weather looks to be turning unsettled next week. ☹️

She looks really fit and well C!

I’m planning a busy weekend with my chap. We have entered our first unaffiliated dressage test next weekend, so will be practicing that. I also need to do a trial run of plaiting his mane, having only ever plaited my own hair before, and give his tack a good clean.

Nothing planned. Was going to dressage Monday but decided against it due to BH traffic as it's a long way for 5 minute test. Just hacking and smooching them. Off to Lincoln next weekend for BRC nationals so will focus on that next week. He doesn't need drilling.

I've had a rubbish few days. Nothing long term but I've been suffering with the 2 year anniversary of Mr Red's sudden death, and someone on Thursday crashed into my gate. It's only a gate but it is a very lovely electric one, that Mr Red organised for me with mum's money (inheritance) and it was what kept me safe when I was suddenly feeling vulnerable and alone.

It is a bit broken.

Then a builder also damaged something.

My knee is still painful.

Then yesterday I went for vaccinations and the nurse said I'd feel off colour for a week, with a sore arm.

Aaaagh!

So, bad knee, unfit horse from being off work due to my bad knee, mad and sad, I decided to...

go on hound exercise!

It could have been a disaster but H is a really lovely, kind boy so, I strapped my knee up, slung him in the box, and with only 1 hour's notice, went!

It was H's 4th hunt ride, and second time he'd seen hounds. The only other time was this time last year.

Apologies for semi-correct attire and hastily wiped tack, and obese horse! But, I had a fab time!

Oh, and just as I got home, we had a power cut! I was hot and sweaty and could not bear the thought of a cold shower or going to bed scruffy. I know that is NOT what a hot tub was for, but it was still hot and felt lovely to get into!!!

I went in the school last night instead of planned hack, because yard teens asked to come hacking with me and I didn't want to take them so pretended I was intending to school the whole time 😂 while swimming around in my lies and child cruelty, I forgot to put my actual riding boots on and rode in yard boots and I am suffering today, as is correct.

Sadie went lovely though! Didn't risk a canter in yard boots, would have been too perfect an opportunity for karmic punishment, but she did ask "canter now????" a few times which was very cute!

Post ride roll extra important the day before bath day

I was quite upset about it at one point, but now just relieved he's got his bounce back. My saddler kept asking if I was sure there was nothing else wrong, but until we sorted the saddle then it was impossible to tell. But he was back to standing by the mounting block waiting to be ridden this morning.

Lovely to see you out Red and enjoying yourself after a difficult time.

After hound exercise on Friday, H had the day off on Saturday whilst we went to a grand day out at a military kids type theme camp. We dressed up, danced, ate unhealthy food and generally had a good time!

Sunday was a 34km cycle ride in the sun, with a stop for lunch!

Today, firstly H was fitted up with a western saddle for BF and his comfort, and then we went on another hunt ride. This one was at 2pm: it was 29 degrees!

It was supposed to be a walk/trot one so we still went. H was a superstar. He'd been excited on the Friday one but, today, he just was so confident and asking what he could do to help! I had the new tiny camera and had some footage of trotting in a group and a bit of bank scrambling, and thought I'd downloaded it, but when I deleted the footage off the card, it seems to have also deleted it from my phone. Doh!

After just 40 minutes, the hunt said they were going to step the pace up a bit. I could not ask more of my horse; you can't improve on perfect. He is barefoot and did 2 hours on hard, stony ground on Friday and I decided to take him home.

It was very local to us and it worked out that he was only out of the field for an hour and a half 🤣

I think it was best for both our welfares though, and a good training exercise at that!

We spent the weekend solo hacking (we’ve done a lot of this recently as no one seems to want to hack with us as we are just walking for 20-30 mins) and he is feeling a lot more buzzy and forward than he did before our PSD treatment. Still head-tilting slightly and chewing on the bit so need to play around with bits but he is feeling good

We did bath time and the aforementioned yard teens wanted to help so we had three of us soaping, scrubbing, combing, yelling HOW IS HER TAIL STILL DIRTY, soaking eachother, getting covered in hair and god bless Sadie she was a great sport until the tail dunk at which point her patience was exhausted and I got the bucket poured down me 😂 proper saddle club style afternoon with me, the honorary 36 yo teen

Bad news is that I rode in the school first and she doesn't look or feel lame but she did feel weird and couldn't seem to relax even doing easy things so keeping an eye on that one. May have bathed her for nothing, can't take her to a show if she isn't happy at home! But will hopefully have helped her cast her coat anyway so maybe not for nothing 🙃

Bury HP on Saturday - not been out in ages. Good lad for psg (gold) with absolutely no halts shown at all!!!! For just under 67%. He behaved for the inter 1 but I let him get a bit tight in the neck so our changes were short and extensions didn’t have the usual swing etc for just under 65% (but a silver win!).

We are all booked into our next 2 comps which will take us to the end of October and we both have a short break planned at the end of September too.

BH Monday we went round somerford park farm with a friend, he was super and the weather was perfect!
