Offers have flooded in for help, all of which are greatly appreciated (this forum is great for this type of help)
BUT...what we don't want, is 3 or 4 bidding against each other!!

We need 1 volunteer, who wil be named on here to bid.
1 volunteer for transport, again named on here
and as many supporters as possible!! beit it just moral back up :)

Can we try and establish today who is doing what please?

Those that are "chosen" can they liase on here, but give personal details, mobile etc via PM?

If this is to be successful, it needs to be co-ordinated somehow so the Mare is not only secured, but is bought for a sensible price.

I have received plenty of offers both financially and practically on FB.
We have the funding to buy her and sahe has a temporary home to go to a Reg charity EMW who, with any exceaa from the funding, will be able to assess her correctly and place her in a PERMANANT Foster Home to live out her life in peace.

So, shall we see what we can do then?
:) :)

if i've done this right here is a link to FB Group for those on FB MANY THANKS

Heathers OH has offered to go and bid for the mare, he's experienced in buying from sales.

I have offered transport within a reasonable distance. Where is this sanctuary.

Heather has offered a temporary home if long distance transport needs arranging.

Just let me know

I think the mare going to EMW (for them to assess her and place her in a suitable foster home) is the absoulte best option, and the only real way that we can safe guard her future.
I'm way too far to do anything practical, but I'll happily contribute money towards her safe arrival and ongoing care at EMW.

Who can be responsible for bidding and paying for the mare? Who will be at the sales?

Edited - I posted this over on facebook:
If Rockys mum is transporting the mare, couldnt we simplify the situation by asking her to bid for her too? 1 person bidding, paying for and transporting the mare to EMW would be a lot simpler and cause less confusion I feel?
I'll happily forward funds to pay for the horse/transport and donate to EMW for any on going care etc -
Im just a little worried that various people are going to want to try and be 'heros' as it were, and will end up bidding against us and generating more income for this little girls current owner :(

Brilliant.
Is the bidder OK to pay on the day and receive payment on collectiuon?..or shall we transfer funds prior to Auction?

She needs to go to Herefordshire...so a fairly long drive post auction TBH
She would need a bed for a night or 2 if thats OK?

I'll ring Heather and tell her to log on

I would do it but its a long way in a trailer. Poor old lass will already have had the stress of travelling to the auction and then the actual auction.

I think the original plan of a few days chilling locally and then when she's feeling better look at the longer journeys

My mare was 27 when she travelled from Germany to Yorkshire, via Calais/Dover in a trailer. It took them around 16 hours. She was none the worse for her travelling. They cope remarkably well.

I really hope you guys succeed in saving her, she really doesn't deserve to go through a sale after giving someone some fantastic years! I can't help practically but i Will donate some money if you tell me how x

we seem to have so far

1 BIDDER
1 DRIVER
And livery

All we need now is a large dose of Good Luck...............and a few "donations"!! :)

And more importantly, a sensible Bidding Limit....so, how much is She worth?

My OH is happy to bid and pay for the bid on the day, he can be reimbursed when she is collected (and I will cover some of it so that more of what is donated can go to EMW to help support her), Sue, Rocky's mum is happy to transport her back to our yard. I will pm my phone number to Faye. I feel really confident about this poor girls future!

Fantastic.

Is there a paypal we can donate too? I would have offered her a home for life, but I too think EMW is a much better option. Too far too offer any practical help and it does seem like its all sorted but I would like to try and help somehow :)

Good luck everyone, keep us updated! :)

Realistically not a huge amount, but if you do have to bid against the meatman they do tend to drop out at around £300, of course there is a chance of someone else bidding for her as well, you dont really know till the day, i would have personally thought no more than £400...but who knows.

You can use here as a stopover point if needed, have already done it before for EMW with two shetlands. We're just off the A49 so an easy run down to Hereford from here plus easy to get to from the North, splits the journey nicely in half.

Woo! Go team Hho.
If you guys can let us know when a full plan is formulated and point us in the right direction of when and how to donate something to EMW or who to pay towards fuel etc - then us far away folk can do our lilttle bit to help :p

I don't know prices at markets but would have thought that would be better kept out of the public domain so owner can't bid us up (paranoid & untrusting... Yes)

Just read this thread - what bloody wonderful people you all are, it really has brought a tear to my eye - so nice to know so many people care about this poor girl. If there is anything I can do let me know - I am in somerset so prob not much use !

Is it worth the person going to bid wearing something distinctive and posting on this forum what they will be wearing so that anyone else turning up just in case doesnt bid against them ! or is this going to artificially inflate bidding if another bidder knows who they are.

Fingers crossed for this poor mare, again let me know if there is anything I can do.

x

Lets hope for a good outcome everyone and if this doesnt happen please do keep supporting EMW if you havent come across them before, they do the most wonderful job.

Same here, have a few tears in my eyes :)

If anything happens and she can't be found a home for life I can offer her one!!, I have my own land at the back of the house :)

I have spoken to Elaine at EMW and asked her to receive all donations for Rosie.

I will put up details of how to donate as soon as i receive them.

Hope everyone is happy with this idea?

Pat, that is very kind of you (again!)

Only just saw this post & the one it relates to about the poor old mare - unfortunately I'm not in a position to offer any help with a home for the poor old girl or overnight stabling etc but I will gladly donate to help pay for her/her keep/transport/whatever and if there's anything she needs in the way of a wardrobe I'm more than happy to have a rummage through my things & see what I can come up with - my horse is a fair bit taller but quite short coupled etc so rugs & things might fit.
I'd also like to agree with the posters above that this is such a lovely thing to be doing for this mare - well done people :)

Not wishing to rain on anyone's parade but can't help thinking that the seller might get wind of all this hub-bub on HHO and pull her from the auction. :( I know I wouldn't want to turn up knowing there could be several angry HHO's there who think the seller is an evil cow-bag.

It's great that she is being rescued :) but just shame it can't be done in a more discreet manner to stop anyone thwarting plans.
