Im looking for a cheap 2nd hand saddle for a young pony I have. Not wanting to spend a lot as the pony is still filling out and changing shape

anyone know any websites, have done ebay, h&h classifieds, hmart, and horsequest, but are there any others

or does anyone have anything, 16.5 - 17.5 / med-wide to wide, any colour, reasonable condition, cheap as poss GP or jumping

(as far as im aware asking is within the rules, as cheap tack is free to advertise anyway, but if iv got my wires crossed , my apologies ?)

:)? xx

Do you have any horse sales near to you with a tack section?
I picked up my ponies saddle with the stirrups and girth for 18 pounds a few months ago
I also bought one at the last sale that one is english leather and really supple for 20 pounds but doesnt fit the horse :(

Have you tried local saddle fitter?

Recently bought 2nd hand Jeffries from my saddler, old & little tatty but £150 fitted.

Like yours, horse is changing shape (was fat & unfit when she came to me), saddler will part-ex this one for pretty much the price I paid as she gets fitter & her next longer-term saddle is fitted.

Works for me, cheap & I can be confident it fits :)

Whereabouts are you? There should be someone doing 2nd hand saddle fitting in your area; but if its anything like here, they're not easy to find as most "saddlers" are only doing new leather ones now; OK if you've got loads-a-dosh but not for most of us that haven't!!

My boy has had back problems in the past as he was on working livery and had a saddle plonked on him that didn't fit, so I'm very cautious about buying without having it fitted properly.

If you're in the Devon/South West area, then feel free to PM me.

There's a tack shop in a place called Lepton 'Hey Farm Saddlery' i think its called i googled it and it comes up with the details

Im not sure where your based but it has an old barn that looks like a unused building outside, inside it is saddle heaven!! the guy in the shop Paul is brilliant ever so helpful and they are soo cheap, i got a 16&1/2 synthetic wintec saddle for £90 looks brand new :)
