Can't see a thread yet.....

I have plans! Joe Midgley is coming for his monthly clinic at our yard on Saturday. That is my favourite lesson of the month so I can't wait for that. I plan to focus on the dressage warm up - which has been very challenging at Norton Disney and Stafford so I need a new plan!

Then on Sunday it is Epworth BE90. I have never evented 2 weekends in a row before, but am assured by my RI that it is fine. There is not much available for me after that so getting runs in where I can.

Have fun everyone in whatever you are all doing!

Joe just left here half an hour ago! Had a fabulous lesson on BH. BH and I change every time he comes. Homework this week is to rein back on a circle, the outside fore to be leading the movement, to also side pass, using rein back helping regain softness if he starts to push on me, and releasing the head/neck in canter, also using rein back if he pushes into the bit.

Good luck at Epworth!

I am visiting Bramham as a spectator at some point.

Sunday, we have a jumping clinic, that will be exciting as I'm not sure if it is on grass.

Should have been doing a 15k ride Sat (not starting till 10.30) and its the RC annual show on Sunday.
Ground round here is like concrete, so coupled with a high temp forecast from tomorrow, I'll be pootling at early doors instead as I still need to stay out of direct sun at present.

Good luck to those competing 🤞

Good luck on Sunday AE and Michen.

We've cracked solo hacking without any stops, so we'll be doing more of that and more work in the grit arena for foot conditioning. We're doing trot now and looking forward to our first canter soon.

The irony, ground in Colorado too wet currently 🙈

Dressage test practice session with a local instructor - its supposed to be 29 degrees so that'll hopefully take the bounce out of turbo cob who will be underwhelmed to find a trip out in the box is to trot in circles instead of galloping madly around the countryside turning a 'fun' ride into a display of his airs above ground and racehorse skills.

Currently need direction on how to actually get him to go straight down the centre line. My grass at home at the moment is long enough for the wiggly trail to be very obvious - every time I straighten one side up we wiggle dramatically to the other.

A little rain wouldn't go amiss. Keeping schooling sessions very short because I'm on grass and its concrete. Would like to be practising our canter transitions which seem to have turned into 'cob trot' in the school but really the ground is too hard.

Mr D is still off games but another friend has said "come and ride my horse" (I am so lucky) so tomorrow I'm off to have a sit on her mare +coffee and a good natter! My "arty" friend is coming to stay on Saturday, we went to the Peaky blinders ballet recently (absolutely brilliant) and on Sunday we are off to an Art festival thingy. She stops my life from becoming a cultural desert, for which I am very grateful. My adopted peahen got eaten by the fox two nights ago and I am still in mourning, it doesn't help that I keep seeing her feathers in the garden. I really miss her, she was a big personality and quite a big bird, I was completely struck by her intelligence, honestly she was far from stupid (which I find, just a little worrying) I am finding myself strongly attracted to becoming a vegan. Have a lovely weekend and success to those who are competing.

We’re off to another TREC and staying over from Friday night. Also dragging the Hooligan along as parents going away & brother is working. Horrid is not going to be impressed that he shall have 2 whole days of only having a morning & evening food slave! Have bought the dog a battery powered mini air con unit because I’m twitchy about him being shut in the back of the box whilst I’m riding.

Slightly questioning my life choices and looking longingly at Bramham / wishing I’d checked for clashes before making my entry.

Will be a miracle if I get to the end of the weekend without losing / nearly losing pony or dog at least once.

Have you withdrawn Lottie from MvH @Ambers Echo ? It' s this weekend and I am crewing for a friend. Looking forward to catching up with lots of old friends in spite of the weather forecast!! Friend is going for a sound completion and is a very experienced endurance runner as well as rider so hopefully it won't be a stressful day. Good luck to any HHO'ers who will be there. :)

Vet this afternoon for Chilli - HHO good luck vibes are welcome.

Heading to a friend’s tomorrow for a ride. I’m borrowing a horse from her yard who has Western tack, which will be a first for me! Really looking forward to it though I hope we figure out how to get the saddle on with no issues 🤣

@palo1 Oh yes I did actually. We were still only on the reserve list so we agreed that I should go eventing instead. Rather than risk missing out on both. She did a couple of 20 milers in the build up and my sharer felt happy with that.

Have got schooling at Eland booked but it might just end up as a hack around, depending on how well they've looked after their ground! I think it's normally quite good, even when hard but we'll see. Also didn't realise it was going to be so warm but we have an earlyish slot so should miss the warmest temps.
Good luck everyone competing and have fun everyone else :)

I hope those with poorly ponies get good news/improvement over the weekend.
Farrier tweaked Amber's shoeing setup yesterday and seemed better for it, so we'll try a couple of schooling sessions to see how she does.
I'm hoping we get some of the warm weather that the rest of the country has had; I've been wearing my coat all week so far!
Camp next week :)

I'm hoping the breeze that has been with us for a couple of weeks will stick around or the weekend will be really icky. I'm not good in hot weather.

Now I can manage 40 mins in the saddle we're starting prep for extremely lowly dressage competitions in July. Tests will be chosen for something my gammy right leg can manage. Cobbus has a hair trigger upward transition, which needs little effort from me but we need to work on planning and making the downward ones better, cos sadly tests don't have every one sitting between two letters.

Allotment tea party on Sunday, which is usually a proper cake-athon, and any spare non-boiling time will be spent poo picking.

Good luck to anyone competing - and I hope people with poorly horses get some good news.

New saddle arrived (cheapish adjustable) this week and so did the wider gullet bars for robins saddle so we will having a 'fitting' session and then cracking on with the backing process. Plan is to get him out hacking once or twice a week to help with weight management and if we're ahead of the game with 'learning' come spring then so much the better. Then its a bit more ground work with Reggie as we are a 2yr old bargy so and so currently and I'm not entirely sure where that creature has come from - but I don't like it and it needs fixing! Benjamin Brown did so well last week that he's not up to much, maybe an inhand walk up the lane to the stream and a nibble on the hedgerows.

It has been very wet here this week, which has made it hard to ride. My hacking route entrance has washed away so cant hack easily unless I want to ride on roads, which I dont! Very frustrating.

Tomorrow we have dressage club. Have signed up for 2 shared lessons with 2 different coaches. Hopefully they keep us on the straight and narrow as we have a comp coming up.

Sunday I will be floating the horses out to ride, either to my coaches place of the pony club, we will see how I feel!
