my tow car is now 8 yrs old, and I realise it will soon be time to consider trade - ins. I'm considering the smaller car and little lorry option, but wondered about costs.

My understanding is that these 3.5 lorries do not need to be plated annually. Is this correct? If so, do they go for an MOT like a car.

Also, how much does the road tax cost? I'm guessing the insurance will be similar to a car of equivalent value.

How much does a service cost for these vehicles?

Thanks

All lorries no matter how big or small and all cars over 3 yrs old have to have an m.o.t or plating, it's the law. But with lorries all the plating station does is check the lorry not the body of the box. road tax depends on the age i;e K reg about £106 6 months tax (my 4x4 1 yr old is also the same) Insurance for my box is just over £300 a yr fully comp and again depends on the age and insurance company and the add on's.... A service could depend on the garage.....

Thanks everyone.

Its a big help. should the car need expensive work to get thru its MOT this will help with the lorry v new towing vehicle decision
