im looking at getting one of the 3.5 tonne lorries - the older style transit or volkswagen posibly one of the ones with a ifor williams type back with rear and side unload. just wondered if any one had one - what are they like - do they wobble or sway?
any advise appreciated.

I've got the newer Renault Master side loader, its great, dosn't sway and i don't know i have my mare in the back sometimes.

I had a vwLT35 with an Ifor Williams body. Couldn't fault it mechanically but it did sway a bit, so had to be very steady on corners and roundabouts. I think the lower renaults are better

The Ifor ones are crap, sorry, but very high and noarrow so unstable. I have a "coachbuilt" LDV which is still high but pretty stable. The VW's are reliable but according to my mechanic have no power and are a bastward to fix. Transits rust like nobodies business.

I have an LT35 with a coachbuilt GC Smiths body on it that despite being 20 years old is in really good condition and only has 60k miles on the clock so runs as good as new! I carry normally 1 14.2 but have had a 15.2 in with him as well. No swaying, it is slow but always gets us there! Starts every time, really good on diesel and we love it.

We have an VW LT35, think its 15 years old. The horse section is lovely made by Geroge Smith, its very spacious and takes two 17.2HH with ease, it has a side ramp and there is a cut through from the cab to the horse area. There is also a luton for tack etc or it could even have a matress if staying away. A really good little lorry, however when we bought it its needed a lot of work i.e new floor etc
Have got someone who has been almost begging to buy it from us for a year!!
