Looking at both of these - either get a new build Racemaster from builder Reading / Newbury or grab 2nd hand though newish Marlborough Hunter. Anyone with experience of either? Priority is tidy professional long lasting build with minimal living and max weight carrying that will hold its value.

I must admit that I really like the look of the Marlborough Hunter. I've posted before about these, and every answer was positive about them. Don't know much about the Racemaster - for some reason, I haven't seen many of them out and about in Scotland, other than at race meetings, so would also be interested in what anyone else thinks of them.

I've seen the Hunter in person - lovely looking box / build, only downside is it only takes 1.1T of weight. Racemaster says it builds to carry 1.25T as standard and every bit counts I think.

problem is, then it's not a 3.5T box which is what my driving licence restricts me to - I've been downgraded cos of EU red tape & I can't get back up :-(

That's a pain! Am off to look at the Racemaster box on the website. Still like the Marlborough one, tho.

I have a Marlborough Hunter. It's the second Marlborough I've had, my previous was one of the first Marlborough Sports. I've had my Hunter for almost 5 years and I really like it. Until this year I've never had any problems with it. A part of the engine broke this month and it was difficult to fix, I needed a new engine and had trouble finding one locally. I called David Rees at Marlborough and he arranged all the repairs for me at his garage and had it delivered back to me within the week at half the price I was being quoted locally. So I have only good things to say about them.

Racemaster I'm considering doesn't have his own website - sells mainly thru word of mouth into racing yards I think though he's left one up on Horsequest (sold!) mainly as an ad.

It is worth looking on the travel two website as there is a lot of information about small boxes on there. If you ring them they will truthfully talk about the different makes.
