hello, im interested in buying a 3.5t van and having it converted into a horsebox . I can buy a van for £3000 but how much will it cost to be kitted out ? any ideas on companies that are reasonably priced also ?
I think this might be a kit. I'm considering a conversion also. Initially, I was just going to buy one 'ready to go,' but thinking it might be cheaper to buy the van and pay for the conversion. What kind of vans are you looking at?
To cut down on costs, my friend sold her jeep and went to an auction and bought a very nice estate car for a fraction of the price she would have paid privately or with a dealer. I am in no way clued up about auctions etc as I have never been to one and I'm not even sure if you can buy vans at auction, but would help the bank balance if I could get a better deal there!
hello, im interested in the renault master. Ive found it has a pretty good payload with 1200kg. Compared to others i would struggle to be underweight. I have a beast of a cob that i hunt and if my dad comes then we would travel a thoroughbred also my cobs 500kg , and the thoroughbred is 450kg so ill have a little bit spare for kit and accessories.
I have a renault master van conversion and find it great for hunting, as small enought to park on verges and easy to manoeuvre if parking is tight at a lawn meet.
Mine has a payload of 1200kgs so can just fit in my 2 15hh cobs, 450kg and 500kg respectively, but wouldn't try to carry much more as would soon be over the limit.
If you can, source a van with a turbo diesel engine - mine pulls like an ox up our shropshire hills!
Three Counties Horesboxes, based in Worcestshire, are fab and will convert to spec. If you google them they have a very comprehensive website and price list, and having used them myself could not recommend high enough.
