Does anyone know what the approximate payload of a ford transit style lorry is? I have seen some advertised that state they can take 2 x 16.2hh but can't see that they can legally take 2 larger horses.....
Thanks for any info

I would doubt that any 3.5t could legally carry 2 x 16:2hh horses plus equipment etc
I read a very interesting article about horsebox 'converters' mis representing the product and effectivly 'miselling'........I just wonder if anything is actually done about it!!

Sorry I feel if you need to transport 2 horses of that size you need to look at 6t / 7.5t or a large trailer with a good 4X4

I stupidly bought a ford transit horsebox and afterwards had it weighed - it was a shocking 2.8 tonnes unladen!! Therefore only 700kg load available including horse, tack, humans etc! Totally unsuitable even though had more than enough space to take two large horses. Would even legally have taken one!

Thanks guys - confirmed my supscions! I am asking this on behalf of somone else, who currently carries 2 x 14.2hh cobs, but not convinced she would be legal even with these two on board as one is quite chunky....
I will suggest she gets it weighed unladen then at least will have a better idea what she could legally carry.
