Is there a market for this service in this area? I am aware of one major operator, thinking of undercutting and also offering half day/short notice hire at a reduced rate. Would also be able to provide wato certified HGV qualified driver if required.

There's a company in Wargrave, I'm sure there are others but don't know them. Competition is good and you will surely be closer to some people than the existing companies, which will make you more attractive. Local is good, no one wants to drive too many miles to pick up a van. Or how about offering to deliver it? This would be a REALLY nice service.

Wargrave is quite a distance from me, I am south of Reading. Delivery is a good idea but not sure how practical it would be

Sure Rog will be along to correct me but, read in the last week or so that moves are a foot to drop the weight limit to 2.7 tonnes in line with Germany as the weight before relevant licences and tacho's are required.

Having been trawling the internet for the above service, and knowing a few people that would be interested, it may be worth it if you can undercut everyone? Let me know if you decide to go ahead! I'm looking for quotes for transport atm :) xx

There is to my knowledge all within Surrey (or on the edge of)
Wentworth Horse transport (Bracknell area)
Alf Turner (Bisley)
Richard from Equestrian Re-hab (Woking)
Loc (Dorking box + trailer hire)
Richmond (Cobham)
County Horsebox Hire
Equine Shuttle (South Godstone)
Galloway
Ideal Horse transport

Either the above do self drive or have driver & box, worth checking, but these are all on my list here at home for when I get asked - and I know there are others locally too :)

I have a company in Thatcham. We do all that you describe for less than our competitors too ;)

Just be aware that SEVERAL companies locally have gone under doing this so I would recommend it as a substitution but not your entire business model.

Would you lease one out for 2/3 months???

Not full term as I only have one lorry and so need it to use myself but I do bulk booking discounts so if you bought a block of days it would cost far less. Plus if you paid upfront I'd be happy to deliver as long as it was convenient :)
