I have done my sums and am looking at getting a box and am torn between the two options.

The box on a chassis seem to be cheaper and have a better payload (around 1500kg) both of which appeal to me. They arent as pretty but I'm not bothered about that and will only be doing 30 mile journeys max.

The conversions look lovely but payload is generally 1100kg-1300kg which I would manage to be under but I would rather not have to worry about it

Someone on here mentioned the box on chassis are a bit less stable due to a higher ride height. Does any one have any thoughts between the two please? pros and cons?

When I was younger we had 2 transit type Luton Horseboxes, we only ever travelled two ponys and even with the most careful driving, it felt like it was rolling about and leaning around corners. I'd personally never have another one. I have a vauxhall movano now and it's a much stabler ride and it doesn't lean even when I have my mare in who isn't always a good traveller.

Ok thank you sounds like movano or master it is then

I had a ford transit with a coach built body - from a drivers point of view it was easy to drive, economical, and looked very smart.

From a horses point of view, the body of the lorry was high off the ground, which made the ramps very steep. As others have said it also did sway round corners and in the high winds.

I now have a renualt master van conversion and much prefer it. The ramp is lower and the horses travel much better in it. It feels more stable to drive and has no sway at all.

Years ago I drove a transit with a trailer type box. Every time I went round a corner I thought it would tip over and roundabouts were a nightmare. Hated it. I now have an equitrek sonic and love love love it. Just like driving a car and the horses love it. Payload 1040kg.
