I have a Select 3.5 ton and my 16.3 fits in with lots of headroom to spare

Canvan do a hightop version of their renault conversions. You'll find though that many don't do them due to the problem with the payload.

Most of them will have headroom for a 17.2, but check the payload! I got caught out and bought a brand new box, told the payload was 1.2 tonnes, but when I came to sell it, it actually had a payload of 800kg (weigh bridge). It did have 1.2 tonnes, but this was before it had lockers, sink, cooker, fridge, etc., etc. So be careful. By the time you have large horse on board, a couple of people, diesel, water and all the bits & pieces you could be over the limit.
