After coming to terms with the news my boy won't be able to compete anymore I'm having to consider selling my Horsebox.

(Please note I'm NOT trying to sell right now just stuck on rough pricing)

My horse box is a 3.5tonne ford transit with a Ifor Williams container bolted to the back. On doing a few searches I'm finding similar boxes advertised from anything from £1500ish right up to £6,500!!! So roughly what's a reasonable advertising price for this:

P reg
LONG wheel base 3.5tonne ford transit ( so more space in front of the horse/space for unloading)
11 months MOT
Well maintained
Wooden and metal style ifor Williams container partitioned for two forward facing horses
Luton over cab
rubber matting on the floor
wooden gates to the rear and metal gate on side unload ramp.

It's in good condition and has been well maintained including the panels on the body of the container being painted with boat paint to protect from the elements. Recently had two new tyres. (Twin wheels on back axel)

I would normally travel my middle/light weight cob only and occasionally a small (under 14hh) pony plus tack as max. (Do have payload certificate somewhere but not on me!)

If it makes any difference it's a bright blue colour!

Any advice gratefully received as not brought or sold for a number of years and very out of the loop on prices!

Thanks in advance for any help! :)

I would have said nearer £3k. People don't really like these as the centre of gravity is so high. That limits you to buyers with small ponies really.

Fingers crossed you get nearer that for it then. You might just have to patient and wait for the right person to come along.

I know weight wise people find these not the most versatile and I'm unlikely to be in a mad rush to sell.

Well Sprig they do only carry up to 16hh but i carry a 15hh and a 13.3hh with ease.. Brought mine for 6.5k :)

tern: if you don't mind me asking was yours a similar reg and was the container wooden or plastic panels?

Thanks x

I have metal gates all way around
alu floor and matting.
metal partition with panel
and plastic panels - Had wooden on last trailer and it just peeled :/
very well maintained
Came with a 12 month MOT
Not sure what wheel base it is ... Has quite a large bit to unload horses though.
And and have a luton over cab :)

Thank you.. My container is all wood so don't think mine is worth the 6.5k that a newer model might fetch.. We found the wood peeled too. We then stripped it back and did three layers of paint made for boats!!!

Really is a pick a sensible price and see what interest you get kind of market isn't it! Some people sound like they wouldn't even look at it and others have told me it's exactly what they want! Dread to think what selling a horse would be like... Still own the one and only equine purchase 14years on!! X
