Apologies to all for not posting for so long and now I have a problem.

For the last couple of weeks Molly (7) has been coming out of her box absolutely dog lame. The strange thing is she comes sound within about 100yds walking.

I've had the vet twice now and seen a physio and an osteopath. The vet really hasn't any ideas as he can't find anything and she comes sound so quickly that there's not much testing (nerve blocks etc) that he can do.

After having had physio, what we thought was just general stiffness, now does appear to be lameness an her left hind. Ideas from the vet are possibly a locking stifle or Annular Ligament Desmitis,

Bute (twice daily) seems to have helped.

She's due to go to the hospital next week for a radio isotope bone scan to try and eliminate any bony issues, fractures, etc. Its likely that he won't find anything so the next step would be to try nerve blocking but it'll be tricky as she comes sound so quickly.

I see this in the morning but also when she's been standing in her box for an hour plus.

Anyone else had experience of this, any ideas?

Regards

Are you able to keep her out instead of boxing her? One of mine was a school horse before I bought him, he was stabled 24/7 and always started work with a kind of stringhalty gait which disappeared after the first 10 mins. Now he lives out all the time and never shows any sign of the problem.

I aggree with soloequestrian, if you could leave her out issue might go, my old girl had to stay in last night as company for my young one and was lame for the first 10 mins walking about the field this morning, now she is fine.

Hope you find out why

i agree with the above, could you leave her out and then see how she is?
our old mare (17) gets very stiff in a stable but like yours will stop being lame after walking around for a bit. we keep her out and she is absolutley fine so i would try leaving her out if possible
