So the last few days I have noticed horses going crazy to itch.. mainly bums and face.. and now there starting to have bold patches on face from the constant scraping and rubbing up stables ect.. the skin seems perfectly fine where hair is lost if anything a little dry have all been checked for lice ect and there is nothing to be seen from my eyes.. all up to date with worming but I have ordered them all another dose ( for pinworm and neck ) each just to be sure (there due to be done jan) any ideas what u guys think may be occurring? Very odd to me that 3 of them have same symptoms but my old boy seems fine and dandy ??? In the pic is my young mares skin from rubbing!
many thanks in advance! ☺️C9C2AB86-5135-413D-A9F1-43A58C2C3E2E.jpeg

Both my horses developed a skin condition last year which cleared up with the stuff they use for ringworm. Vet didn't think it was ringworm bit we'd tried antibacterial washes so it was last attempt before a skin scrape.

Any chance of mites or lice? Warm weather is a bit of a nightmare for them

Looks like ringworm, which is a fungal infection. It's been very warm and muggy. You can treat with ,

It may just be easier and cheaper to cool them down by clipping their necks off. I have native cattle and they get it about March, and then it's gone as soon as they are out and in their summer coats.
I my cattle it starts as patches like that, and then goes to tiger stripes where they sweat.

It does look like ringworm but we have had some horrible tiny flies that bite I have had bites all over my face and head, they have driven my horses mad as well hoping the colder weather gets rid of them.
