For hunting I have purchased a 3 ring waterford gag (tried in a full cheek waterford last year and my arms are still about a foot longer than they should be!!) and I plan to use 2 reins, one on the snaffle ring and then one on the bottom ring as a handbrake for emergencies (but loose contact at all other times).
What I am wondering is, is it best to use the 2nd rein on the bottom ring or will the middle one be sufficient? Would roundings be worth trying or would that stop the action I am after? She is ok when waiting, its just when cantering/galloping, she just goes into tank mode!
I also have a martingale which will be on the snaffle rein!!!
