Sometimes I think it would be useful to have details on how horses are found, especially to those of us who are still looking for theirs.

The reason that people direct to this board is because it is a horsewatch forum that basically enables people to record any suspious behaviour, tack and horses that are stolen. If everyone recorded their information on this board aswell as the boards they use on a regular basis, it would be come a focal point for people to go to to get update information quickly without having to trail through lots of differnt sites. This is essential when trying to determine thieves in your area. The quicker you can find out if in your area the quicker you can protect you valuables. Unfortunatley people are only aware when usually its too late to act.

Was just going to say something similar. The more people see the board the more likely they are to look and also to check other missing horses.

Understand your point - but it is just A horsewatch forum, and not a hugely used one either - the information is much better placed on a widely used forum such as this, instead of the webmaster constantly attempting to direct people to her relatively new and little used boards. I do agree that information such as this should be as widely available as possible, and posted in as many places as possible.

Fair point that it is a HorseWatch forum (that does supply details of lost dogs and stolen horse/pony/trailer/equipment etc and NHW alerts for Cumbria) and yes it does seem as though it doesnt get used much BUT the word has been spreading and its only just over a year old. August 2006 I think I started it, not sure without checking.
Ive moved it on to a new server now so it can be searched by search engines better, be part of an already established website and get more recognition that way and will be spending time in the coming months getting the word out around it more.
I do take all comments on board and any suggestions on improving the forum are noted. Please join it and help me spread the word about it and then it wont be "not hugely used" .Ive taken it onto FB earlier today and already got 9 members

Also need to point out that a horsewatch forum has one sole purpose, which is against theft and suspious behaviour. There are loads of horse forums that have a stolen section and until you read every post you don't know where in the country its happening.
The horsewatch forum is split into countys so the information is vital to people in those areas wanting to protect the valuables. Its not about publising one certain forum , its about making people aware of one site that is a focal point for this sort of activity.
I personally think this forum should be everyones first port of call so the information is recorded immediatley for everyone to access. If people don't use H&H or other forum they won't know.
I've updated on this forum and read of things to be aware about which i then have taken away to other forums i go on. I think in the long run its not about which site is preferred but where people can get information quickly for all over the country.
