i know a lot of you think im stupid and mad for taking my green thoroughbred and me bing a novice rider to a big meet for our first time out.....

but, its the only one i can get to as i dont have travel and its hacking distance and im taking all precaustions and i started tarining for it 8 weeks ago and he is deffinatly fit enough now and will be in 3 weeks time!

we go out almost everynight weather and slippy road permitting for up to two hours alot of trot work and some long canters then at a weekend hes jumped for up to 1 hour at various height biggest is 3ft 9 so should be good for some hedge hopping as he is bold as anything!

then as of a sunday we go on a 3 hour fast hack to build up their stamina in the 8 weeks iv been training so far i have only lost controtol on 1 of the hacks and i posted on here and got an ear full saying im daft to take him hunting!

well i would love to prove you all wrong because since then i have been out twice with same group and over the same land doing the same thing galloping from a stand stil and comming up from a gallop to a steady trot/walk and hes been a true gent!

i have also learned alot about us both and whats comfortable and how to bring him back to me quickly so in 3 weeks time we are going to be more than ready! and i am ABSOLUTLY looking forward to it and if the moment arises when i loose control if him knowing what i know now he should be easy to bring back to me plus im hutning with 4 other friends who hes feild mates with so should be fine!

just wanted to post a happy post and that i am super excited!!!

I shouldnt worry about the size of the meet - its all the same when your tucked quietly at the back.
Your fitness sounds more than many would consider doing - you'll have no problems there.
Most of the 'preparation' for the green horse comes with socialising them to seeing other horses, of course the hounds too! The only thing left to do perhaps!? Any chance you could squeeze in a fun ride (I know they are seriously thin on the ground!) - or organise a 'big' hack with 5 or so other to see how he behaves.

I am sure you will have a great day! - My best peice of advice - Come away on a good note before anyone gets tired!

P.s. Enjoy!!! A nice report on 2nd of Jan please!
