3 Wheeler Buggies for horsey people???

Help horsey Mums and Dads.

I want to get a 3 wheeler buggy but need reviews/opinions from horsey people. The usual reviews dont seem to take into account fields and bumpy muddy tracks.

I'm looking at the Phil and Teds, Mountain Buggy and Out and About brands. If there are any others great but they must have 3 large ish wheels and suspension.

What do you have?

(no idea if this will get any replies but there must be others out there wuth the same needs)

I've got a Phil and Ted's E3. Its second hand (from Ebay), but is effortless to push and goes really well over all the bumps. My husband also takes it out jogging down out pot hole filled country road and says it is easy for that too.

Used to have a Quinny Buzz, which was great when the baby was small, but was much heavier going off road and also didn't fit in the boot of my car with the toddler seat on (I have a Hyundai I10).

The only problem I have with the E3 is that the handle is a little low for me (I'm 5'10") and can't be adjusted. However someone else I know has the new model and that does have and adjustable handle. She also has horses and takes hers out around the farm she lives on every day without problem.

Oh, and yes it does fit in the boot of an I10 with the parcel shelf removed.

Don't know anything about the other makes.

Was looking at the Phil and Teds sport today they have it on sale in one of the big baby stores. Will google the E3 model.

my MIL has the mothercare urban detour 3 wheeler and its fab, very light, air filled wheels, suspention ect and we have the brittax trekker pritty much the same but a bit heavier.
 
I have a Mountain Buggy Terrain (bought from EBAY - they last forever). You need one at least 1 year old as they are now made by Phil and Teds and apparently the quality isn't too good.

With all terrain tyres it will go across anything - literally all winter I pushed it through deep thick mud, it's been over sand dunes at the beach, round muddy team chase courses. They are very big (need a large boot) and not very flash - you'd definitely want something else for going shopping etc, but for trucking around the countryside through mud, sand, over bumps etc it is absolutely unbeatable.

Have just been reading some good reviews about this buggy, they also mentioned that the older ones are better, will see what I can find on on ebay. Thanks.
 
I have the urban detour too, both the single and double versions. We have taken them everywhere, the beach, Burghley, Blenheim and just today round Belton horse trials.(I do go to other places not beginning with B!) They are very stable off road, and easy to push over any terrain, even the dreadful muddy Burghley a couple of years ago.
 
Interesting about the Urban Detor, was wondering how it stands up to abuse, quite well by the sounds of it.

we took it to so many hunt meets in all the mud and it didnt let us down once! you can use the maxi cosi car seat on it for the first 9 months as well, and the dreami basinette, a godsend if you are wanting to take your baby to the yard and let it sleep.
very useful. i used to pop the boy in it and have him sleeping whilst i walked the dogs.
 
One of our friends has an icandy apple 3 wheeler - I pushed it on / off road and up / down some serious hills and bumps in Croatia and was quite impressed with it.

Hi, I bought the Mothercare Urban Detour and it was a Godsend! I would have been lost without it. Have been over very rocky terrain in the Cairngorms, including through burns (streams) and boggy bits! It was easy to push up steep stony hills, nice and light. Fantastic, I highly recommend it! :)
 
My 2008 Mountain buggy is excellent - its brown mud coloured - perfect! Its coped with lots of 3DE's and other horsey activities, got pushed in and out of muddy fields turning horses out and is solid / stable enough to withstand most things. Also has a decent size shopping tray which comes in handy. Very happy with it! There seem to be quite a few 'townie' type 3 wheelers which just don't seem to be roubust enough for the proper off road stuff.
 
Just wanted to add that it went through 3 years of "abuse" and has lived to tell the tale! In fact it could withstand many more years of it. It was pushed up and down a very bumpy farm road twice a day, and through the woods to walk the dogs. Have to admit to using my clean 4 wheeler for shopping though, as the 3 wheeler was constantly covered in mud and ****e!
 
I'v actually got a 4 wheeler, as I personally prefer the appearance. It's the silvercross surf and I love it! It's great off road, will go anywhere, through my fields, across sand etc. Foam tyres so no punctures. Very lightweight and easy to manoevr and good suspension. I did a lot of research and found this suited my needs the most. I bought the whole travel system, including the carrycot as my little one was prem and had to come straight out in the snow with me whilst I did horses, the day she came out of special care unit!!

Yes foam tyres are supposed to be good, although I have'nt seen any on the 3 wheelers.
Remember having to load up baby and all into the jeep in all that snow to water horses.
 
We have a Zooper Zydeco (also known as a Zooper Boogie, depending on who you ask). I believe they're actually American so not so common, but they are around (mostly on ebay, which is where I got mine). 3 wheeler, pumped up tyres, reversible seat so little'un can face you or forwards, an absolute dream to push over any terrain and such a cosy seat for bubs. I absolutely love mine :)
