What a lovely video. I love how you ride her, how you just sit out her tantrums and then carry on calmly. I wish more people did that instead of whacking their horses over the head etc.
Well done for everything you've acheived with a very opinionated mare!
I love seeing Lacey, she's gorgeous and so full of fire.
I'll try and post some more pictures when I've got time
I was only 14 when I got her (I realised she was gonna be a handful when I tried her out but didn't realise how hard she would become, but we had next to no money so had to get what we could really, plus I fell in love the moment I laid eyes on her), so I had a lot of "advice" from different people and admit I did try and get after her a couple of times. That tended to result in nothing but a lot of sweat, tears and blood (mainly from me) as getting cross with her just starts a battle and then she loses all sense of reason.
Soo then we tried some intelligent horsemanship which stopped the barging (except when she sees something particularily tasty but she doesn't rear or buck in-hand anymore), and just concentrated on prevention rather than telling her off, and just sitting still and calmly when she does go off one one...oh and accepting her for who she is helped - at one point a couple of years ago I was determindly slogging away trying to mould her into the perfectly schooled horse, then getting frustrated as she just got worse. Again my bad for listening to people who don't know her...the day I hung up my schooling whip and said thats that we'll just go how we go was the best day of my life and she turned around almost instantly.
