I haven’t seen a thread yet!

We are having some amazing weather this week. It was perfect for my jumping lesson today.

Henry was so much straighter and more forward but his engine kept puttering out 2 strides before the jumps today so we had some more discussions about what he should be doing when I put my leg on.

I think I’m getting my grit back! Jumped the biggest I’ve done since my fall and got the job done even when it wasn’t perfect, like when hen tried to duck out in a 2 stride.

Feeling way more confident and need to keep this feeling and stick to my plan coz on Sunday we are off show jumping. First comp for the year.

Tuesday is a public holiday so we are going Xc training. Really excited, I’m missing it!

There’s a ton of great horsey things this weekend! Almost spoiled for choice as my RC have a sj comp at a venue I really like but I’d already booked onto xc at Milton Keynes so off to do that on Sunday. If my lorry is back today that is. Had its plating this week (all good) but the key is being fiddly so getting a replacement one done today. Hope the weather holds for everyone!

Lots of fun things planned by the looks of it, enjoy your weekends everyone!

Nothing horsey planned for us but I did, after months of wet weather, manage to have a jump around our jump field last night and the ground was perfect! We even managed to jump some 80s and he felt so good. I just needed to try and let him go a bit like in my last lesson, I don't tend to in there as he gets excited and runs off :D but we'll get there! No doubt the rain this morning means I won't be able to try for another few weeks at least though :(

I had a pole work clinic last weekend and a bit of it was videoed, It felt really good but vid showed I am still collapsing my right side slightly especially on a right turn. Grrrr, I really thought I'd got it sorted so I rode today and focused on trying to get it sorted. Used franklin ball for first time with Mr D and I think it helped. I went to the Winters at Hartpury yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed watching the adv med silver freestyle competition, some lovely tests and I was so pleased to see Leonie Brown on her section D get placed 3rd. I'd seen him about 3 years ago when I took Rose over to Leonie's for a pole work clinic and she has really worked wonders with him. Just great to see a native winning against the WBs! I am getting so mushy in my old age as some of the tests made me feel quite tearful! 342217121_1506475619878786_2819512544785254828_n.jpgCoincidentally, the attached pic of Mr D popped up on fb he won the elementary restricted at the Winters in 2012. Doesn't he look smart and he was out competing at 3* eventing as well? A real credit to his owners and I am just so lucky to be riding him now.

It's been relentlessly windy. I've done what I can with the horses, but it gets knackering when it's day after day. Damned easterlies.

Fin did some circles today. Hermosa went hacking with her Friesian friend, 'cause if it ain't baroque, don't fix.

Took my daughter out to her first x-poles ‘jumping’; she’s not the bravest and insisted on walking it, but she got round and loved her fancy frilly! I then stepped Poppy up to our first 70cm (which I know is still teeny, but it’s progress!) and she jumped a slightly green and very slow clear round- we were a full 20seconds slower than the winner, and more than double the speed of the pocket rocket pony who sadly rolled a couple of poles but jumped at warp speed!

I’m going to take her to a May day show and do the workers, and am now debating whether to stick at me doing 60s and my friend do 70s on her or bounce us both up a class. She’s got enough of a pop for it, and doesn’t tend to look at anything, but I don’t want to push her too quickly.

Also, after a winter of training her mane to lie on the right (thank you neck covers!) I’m totally dismayed to see it go back to its usual mad mop! 🙈

Dima still a bit flat from his little cough- I do treat him like the princess he is, so he had the vet yesterday who gave him a clean bill of health 🙄

However, I had a great time on a 'drive a pony' day, as I'd love to break our little Welsh D to harness when he comes of age.
Something I'd never done before, it was very fun. I think Hugo and I will enjoy it when he's ready for work.

I was going to head down to the local show tomorrow, but my friend has had to drop out and I find the whole experience far too dull without someone to gossip with in between classes! (Also, attempting to hack Blue down there without a buddy would be a bit too exciting.)

I've just realised that I still have time to video a dressage test for e-riders, so I may celebrate her having shaved, white legs by doing that.

Well our eventing didn't go to plan as unfortunately it poured it down Friday evening and we turned up to bottomless mud so we did the dressage and sj and withdrew from the xc. I felt sorry for the venue, up until friday their ground was good just on the soft side and they'd put a huge amount of effort in.

The weather is not being kind to eventing this year so far or last year, at a time when the sport could do with all the help it can get. It really exacerbates the issue with the cost of eventing.

We had a nice quiet hack yesterday to stretch Hens legs before show jumping today. Also spent the day watching Adelaide 5* cross country. It was quite exciting, Shane Rose had an amazing save when his horse slipped after a fence. Plus lots of other action!

I'm watching the SJing right now, one of our WA riders won the 4*, so happy for her!

Henry and I did our own show jumping today, a training round at 75 then a comp round at 75 over a different course. I had a plan, which was mostly about getting Henry in front of my leg and keeping him there! He was super, jumping beautifully around the first round and listening when I put my leg on even when he backed off looking at one jump. He was just right there and made it so much easier to jump around. Came out full of confidence and very pleased.

Waited a while to go again, and I just wanted to have the same round with a little more refinement. The time was really tight, only a handful of rounds inside the time, so I just rode my speed that I felt was right for us. Henry was super again, this time just getting a little deep to the double but I kept out of his way and then a little deep to a related line and had a rail. We were 2 seconds over but looking at the video we weren't slow at all. He was travelling really well and it felt good, just needs a little more polish again.

I feel really pleased with our jumping, we are getting the confidence back! It feels so much nicer now we have more forward and I feel like I am being more active as a rider ratehr than just hanging on and steering.

Well done AE! Sounds like you a Henry did a great job.

I went to visiy my previous share horse and her owner yesterday. We went for a hack which was such a treat! The sun came out for us and it felt like coming home.

It did bring home just how backwards things have gone with my confidence though so I really need to think about that and how to go forwards. I'm visiting current share horse today but said I'm not riding to take the pressure off.

I probably need to get back to RS although having a think about which one. There's one further afield advertising confidence giving schoolmaster lessons with an accredited coach. I'm tempted to give it a go.

We went and did sj clinic, v rusty after not being out for 6 months but came away with a grin.
Lovely coach, we popped various fences and strung some together including spooky wavy planks, double with filler boards and a treble which B coped with brilliantly.
Def need to get us both more fit tho!

IHW, friend was bemoaning the cancellation so late too!
