3rd weekend in November plans

I managed a short schooling session yesterday - baby SI coming along on both reins and walk to canter transitions. Trying to get the hooligan cob to power from behind.

Very short hack on the microcob then it was dark. Sulking!

Today we have wet on top of ice so not very safe riding but should be taking him to Cholsey Farm for a group ride tomorrow. He's going to live up to being a hooligan i fear with the lack of work.

I dont want to do ANYTHING, my body is telling me its hibernation time 😭

Going to take pony for a walk, as I'm not sitting on the pony I had last night 😬 Hack tomorrow after another dressage-helper day!
Swung her bum out in front of a passing car for the first time in her goddamn life 💀💀💀 luckily a farmer in his 80s who was crawling past and completely unphased. Should have trusted the vibes!!

A short & wet 5km hack this morning, mainly in trot, before his equine bodywork session. He got a glowing report of how strong & well he is feeling so v.pleased with that ❤️

He doesn't need any time off so hopefully a 10-15km is planned. Think it's due to rain again so wet weather gear is at the ready 🤣

off to dressage for me and lily, and she only went and won it!!! only an intro test but i’m so made up, it’s taken us an age but it feels like it’s all coming together slowly🥰 our highest mark yet, and better than the last time we did this test too.

i might be brave and do the prelim next month aswell as intro, but it all seems to fall apart as soon as we canter🙈

Friday was still an ice-fest, but we found the horse crampons (which had gone MIA), so we managed a short hack into the park, then schooling later. I was fed up with being grounded by the bloody ice. It melted today, but the thick fog around us as we drove to the yard has us thinking I'd have to do more bloody circles in the arena. So fed up with it, but the only way Hermosa gets semi-normal turnout is to stay in our ridiculous levels of work, so we man up, and I try to remember why I was once a dressage queen and liked schooling.

Anyway, the fog cleared when we drove up the hill before the yard. An inversion! So we rode into the park and I didn't have to ride any f&8978979878$##%#OOU(*king circles. Oh, wait, I did, because I can't hack both horses in daylight, so Fin had to do the circles. So only Hermosa got out of the torture today. Me, not so much. F72482389328723*(&ck. Winter mostly makes me angry. I deny this reality.

A small child we rode past noted my long dressage whip (which you can't see in those photos 'cause I normally hold it on the right). He exclaimed, "Oh, no, she's going to use it to whip the horse!"

I said, "No, I use it to whip dogs and small children." They really shouldn't let me out.

At least the child's dad thought it was funny and started giggling.

She looks a bit slimmer trimmer

A very wet, slightly windy 14.5km hack to round off the weekend - but we both had a nice time despite the damp ❤️ Typically, it's been bright sunshine ever since I untacked ... 🤣

Fabulous hack in deer park Friday morning with a friend and quite a bit of yeeha galloping.
Dressage yesterday. Won the Novice Music as was only one in it! Pleased with 69.44%. We would have broken the elusive 70 barrier if we hadn't had a misunderstanding. I must be clearer as he tries so hard.
An hour's gridwork clinic this morning at warp speed 🙈 Instructor told me off for doing collected canter so I opened him up. Terrifying but great fun.

Couple of days off for us both now!

D had the weekend off as the weather is vile good ol' 40mph wind and rain is back with left over ice and snow. So I took a friend to watch a Joe clinic and had a nice catch up.

I have done F all with the pony this weekend (parents went away overnight so had to be back to do seizure watch on the Hooligan spaniel last night & today I was originally supposed to be having a friend come & visit but we’ve rearranged so instead after my 3 hrs of yard jobs I clipped someone else’s horse & mine had his feet trimmed and then as arena too wet to use and losing daylight I went home for a nice bath (after walking the dog). I was off on Friday as well but needed to do some shopping so still got nothing done!

Shall also be doing nowt with pony next weekend as I’m off away.

Oh well he’s 3, a few quieter weeks to reflect on what little we’ve done so far won’t harm him!

Had a lesson booked and too late to cancel so stuck to walk as Ambers a bit under the weather. She worked really nicely and it was very useful for me to start to get a feel or the right amount of bend in travers and renvers. She's now off until she's better.

We almost drowned in the warm up but me and Rooni did our first inter 2 together on Sat! I was so poorly and the weather was so so so bad but he was AMAZING!

Just a miscommunication on the second pi/pa trans and the 1’s - went back into the warm up and did two perfect lines of 1’s so not worried.

66.47% and a win out of 3! Really pleased with him.

Saw your post on fb - phenomenal! Well done!

Also saw your post and thought bl**dy brilliant! Especially given how dire the weather was.

The hooligan actually behaved pretty well at Cholsey. Had a couple of minor airs above ground moments and treated everyone to an impressive passage when he thought we should be cantering, but I think 24+ hours of rain, living out & not much grass rather knocked his usual bounce on the head. Not a bad thing as there were 2 young ponies on the ride so no one needed an explosive under-exercised cob livening things up. I've just watched the short video of us cantering on their FB page and despite his work falling off in the past 2 months with jury service, bugs, weather and shortage of daylight he still looks a proper fit chunk.

Thank you both, very kind!

I was super glad I chose to wear my old breeches… think they can now be retired to the bin!
