Anyone got anything on?

I’m supposed to have dressage on Sunday but Tali was acting the goat last night, lots of zoomies and took a lander. I caught it on camera and watching it back does not help! She seemed fine this morning although quieter than usual but once again something happens her before dressage. Maybe it’s a sign to give up on my near non existent dressage ambitions. ?

hope you all have a good one.

Hope your OK?

I've got farrier tomorrow and will hack out before he comes. Sunday I'm entered in a DTM class but thr forecast I'd giving thunderstorms so I will play it by ear!!

yeah I’m fine. I was just watching her playing with her pals in the field. It’s just too slippy for zoomies and the older 2 were more careful.

I will keep my fingers crossed for you that the thunderstorms wait until later ??

We have a busy weekend!

yesterday Henry and I had a jumping lesson which was fab and exactly the confidence boost I needed after my fall. He looked after me and we jumped some super lines, including angling jumps to prepare for jump offs etc. he was totally onto it and it really helped my nerves. I was feeling very sick before we jumped, but I was in cloud 9 after!

Today and tomorrow we have the state show jumping champs. Henry went today and he really helped me around and I felt like he was looking after me. We had 2 nice clears, and we won both!! Very very proud and so great for confidence.

Coolie is going tomorrow and I’m really excited. I know he’ll look after me and we will have a blast!

Final run at Norton Disney. In retrospect I wish I had ended our season at Frickley as I've been struggling to maintain consistency in advance of the winter break and rebuild phases. She is still ridden 2-4 times a week but I feel like I have been treading water rather than building up to ND. I've really only entered to avoid my membership having been totally wasted as I've not done a BE all year after Stafford and Cholmondeley were cancelled. With weather deteriorating and nights drawing in, I am in 'winter' mode not 'eventing' mode. Still I hope we can finish on a good run to feel set up nicely for next season.

Good luck to those out and about.
New horse arrives saturday. very excited. Then on Sunday we drop Aria off at our instructors yard as we are weaning Rustle. Shes got some long lining to do for a week or two, then shes to be hacked until she dries up. So hopefully in a few weeks when she comes back i can get back on board. As shes partbred ID shes finer than Pip so hoping my hips feel a bit more comfy.

I’ve put a deposit down on a horse ?

Just waiting to hear when the vetting is getting done so will be keeping my fingers and toes firmly crossed until I know if he’s passed or not.

pretty quiet other than that. I’ve got a gymnastic exercise set up so will have a bash at that over the weekend. Should be interesting ?

After the fun of our last clinic and show for the year last weekend. We're hacking this weekend from the yard with Amber's favourite hacking buddy tomorrow. Then on Sunday meeting another western rider in Thetford forest for a jolly. That should be nice, as we've not been out with another QH before, he's also Ambers half brother, so a matching pair :)

Thanks TM. I had wanted to keep him on her a bit longer but hes just so big, and hes healed up lovely from the castration. I can take Aria away from him and leave him in the field with others and neither worries, so im hoping he will cope ok. Just in case hes a tinker weve had bars made for his stable , so fingers crossed :)

We have one that might need taking off the mare soon as she's huge and has a bit of epiphysitis, and my mare is looking really ropey so I'm not sure how much longer she'll manage to feed Enya for. Was hoping they could stay on until Xmas but I'm not sure we'll make it that far

Rustle has a bit of epiphysitis as well. His sister had it last year too, again she was big. but its all settled for her now. But im not surprised, the ground has been so hard all summer. I expect a lot of the bigger foals will be the same.

We had a groundwork lesson on Thursday where my coach said she thinks Nova is mentally ready to start asking a bit more of her. It was an insightful lesson and definitely gave me a lot to work on.

Yesterday, I popped my friend’s horse over a couple of jumps. I’ve been looking after him while they’ve been away and he’s so much fun. The kind of horse you can get on and just do most things with.

Today, I’m going to go and work on transitions on Nova. Another thing that came out of our lesson is that I’m letting her get away with mooching around and not being as responsive as I should.

Tomorrow we are going to a new place to hack. It’s just a short drive away but it will be very good for her, especially as it’s pretty hilly too.

Not got anything serious on but wanted to join in on these threads.

Pony had a mix of R+ and R- for his groundwork session today. We managed to do some steps with the pole between his fores, do several proper Western turns on the haunches, and do our first mini schaukel. It was by no means perfect - his steps could have been more elastic - but an regular two-beat rhythm in the rein back is a good beginning. Was also interesting seeing how much better his posture in the rein back is when the cue is a target, rather than pressure. For a fat, old cripple (I use the term cripple lightly here), it was some really nice work.

Plan for tomorrow is an hour of interval work in walk and trot on the hills (presuming I can keep up with him. All my attempts at fittening work appear to be making me sweat more than he is.)

Fingers crossed for the vetting BM.

Blew off our sj cobwebs today with a good lesson. Less leaping and boinging and better rhythm and pace. Still need to work on getting him back between fences and the main issue is my ‘driving’ seat, especially when I get busy in my head, which is not needed with Bertie! But it doesn’t phase me now and I feel confident that I can get him back, even if we need to put in a circle when he gets a bit onward bound. A nice tune up before camp next week at Aston.

Slightly distracted however by the horse p*rn going on in the field next to us with a gelding that kept mounting a mare - he was too small to be unsuccessful ?

The boys have a fairly busy weekend as today we went out for a hack and then tomorrow morning I'm talking Apollo to Lowlands for his first arena hire with a friend.

The weather this morning was glorious and perfect for a short hack for both boys. Apollo is feeling stronger every time I ride him and managed to keep his opinions to himself - which is a big improvement from before.

Jack had a mental breakdown at the prospect of being asked to walk between a fallen branch and a car. He's genuinely worried about these things, but the presence of the car meant he couldn't process what the branch was. Apollo, on the other hand, was a bit bemused by Jack's reaction and walked straight past it.

If you looked at them behave you'd think Jack was six and Apollo was twenty when it is actually the other way round. ??

I'm really looking forward to the arena hire tomorrow as it will be Pol's first time working away from home with a friend. My plan is to do groundwork for the first fifteen minutes (and let him jump some of the arena XC fences in hand) then hop on and ride round practicing left, right, trot and stop for the last fifteen.

Photo is Apollo from our hack today when he was giving my phone a thorough investigation!

Lesson yesterday for Rooni. Really pleased with him. He’s growing up the more the work intensifies and his Billy big balls nature is helping keep his confidence up!

Tali was really good at dressage today. Although she knew at A we were due to transition to walk and popped herself into walk a bit early. My own fault for not riding her but she was great fun to ride today. She knows the test so well now I should probably be having a shot at prelim but Im happy playing it safe still. Got our best placing of second ? out of 2 ? she almost trotted onto the trailer today. It’s so nice having a pony keen to get out and about.
