My mare does this and so bouncy, bounces you out almost like a rising canter, seems to do the outside hind then outside front, inside hind and then inside fore.

She does do it on the lunge when something spooks her, sent the video to chiro and she said yes 4 beats to her canter, but stiff behind. She seems to do it on certain canter trails when out hacking but not going up hills faster canter.
What has your vet said about it?
Nothing she is sound, doesn't always do it. Normally when her back is a problem, this time I think it was the saddle which was sold to me fitted her and it didn't, got conned into a new one.

On the lunge she doesn't always do it, I think it is pain related as after chiro she is so much better. Am trying to upload a tiny piece which was recorded.
Not succeeding in uploading

My younger cob can do this when he's sore - he has lax ligaments (on the hyper mobile scale) & over stretches at times. We believe it's SI joint related although could be stifles because the fitter he is the less it happens. I need his quad muscles well developed so they provide the power from behind.

Stiff behind is lame unfortunately, and unless your chiro is a vet, they are not allowed to treat lame animals until a vet has seen them. They should have referred you straight away.

Sorry its not what you wanted to hear, I know youve had some issues with recent horses. Hopefully this is easily resolved.

My mare wasn’t lame but was stiff behind
Small bone chip in back left hock tiny and not floating so that’s why wasn’t lame but was reducing her range of motion

Edit
Also made her very sore in the back SI area from compensating

She is not lame, I can assure you as vet knows she goes like this and recommended chiro last time. It is how she always goes since 2015 when i got her she goes short behind on off hind, normal is her pain in behind the saddle most like from the saddle we were sold by a very thought of saddler which miss sold one to me and someone else. 2 months after Chiro then said mare was sore behind saddle and down gluteal and right shoulder. Saddle was down on her withers, so got them back in to reflock as new saddle, 2 days later it was back down on her withers. They sold me a low wither saddle for a horse with withers.

Once she has her chiro work she has two days off, then lots of straight lines and she returns to normal.

The horse is also very 1/4s in. Lameness evaluation needed first, then go from there
That is the problem she goes 1/4's in when there is a problem that is when I know to get chiro in, she goes 1/4's in short off hind and reluctant to engage her hind quarters, this is how this stoic mare shows me she is in need of treatment. Ironically last time she went like this after mad zoomies round the field I showed the vet the video from then and how she went after. The vet was here doing boosters, and asked to see mare lunged and 10 meter circles and she was happy with her (she had just had chiro).

She’s looking a bit overweight? I can’t get a good enough view and I don’t know if you’re already working on it, so I’m not really qualified to say.

My cob used to struggle to step fluidly into canter and would pick a tranter when she was a bit on the overweight side. Since she’s lost weight I haven’t had that issue, it’s either speedy trot (if I’ve confused her) or canter, no tranter anymore.

No, thats how your stoic horse shows you shes lame. Your chiro should not be treating a lame horse and should be referring you to a vet. The fact shes repeatedly treating the same issue without vet referral is staggering. Shes quite literally breaking the law.

But you wont pay any attention to this I should have known better than to comment in the first place, so I'm out.

The problem is that the horse isn't moving properly. She has an incorrect gait, stiff behind and stepping short on one leg. It doesn't really matter whether this is called lame or not it still indicates a problem which would be best investigated by an experienced lameness expert. If the chiro treatment is only providing a temporary relief then it's time to get a more experienced vet to do a proper assessment for underlying issues.
