4 WEEKS TO GO WHAT TO FEED MY BROODMARE?

Hi

Just wondering what i should be feeding our broodmare now she is nearing her due date? She is looking well, not too fat and on good grazing but i want her to get the right vitamins and minerals. Can anyone help me out? At the moment she is just having stud mix and alpha a...

I wouldn't feed stud mix unless she's a TB (and possibly not even then.) A good stud balancer will give extra protein plus the right mins/vits without the risk of the foal getting too big (foals make the majority of their growth in the last 6 weeks!)

Hi

She is a TB, we bought her last year looking quite poor with a 4 week old at foot but she seems fine condition wise at the moment, by no means too fat but i wouldn't say she needs to put any on now either. Would you suggest a stud balancer then?

Baileys Stuid Balancer all the way - my guys are on it now and I've fed it for about 3 years now and I could not be happier. Played around with a couple other balancer's/stud feeds and none worked quite as well

Soya Oil
Alfa A/Chaff

I know everybody is different, Spoke to vet and feed specialist, and this is what they suggested. The Broodmares on the yard look fantastic on it.

(Also never heard anything said, other than Baileys Stud Balancer is the best)
