I have owned my 4 year old warmblood since he was 2 and broke him in last spring, after 5 months off to chill he's back in work going nicely at home and popping a few fences quite happily now. I don't have my own transport but someone at my stables has offered to take us to a local clear round in a few weeks-should I take my youngster or is it too soon? I will jump a small course with him at home first and will only trot him round if I go, I probably won't even jump the course just a few different fences and some little fillers. I think he needs to get out soon but don't want to upset him. I also think it will do him good to go in the warm up with others-what do you think?

Take him - they have to start somewhere! What about putting a red "kick" ribbon in his tail. Im sure he doesnt kick, but it will certainly stop people getting too close in the warm up.

I bought my 4yr old and took him out 3 weeks after I had him, and he had only been in work for 4 months and was fantastic.

Definitely take him.. I also have a 4yr old who needed to start getting out to see the world. Even if its a journey in a trailer/box.. definitely pop over a couple of fences, you dont have to do them all just see how it goes. I am so glad I took my young one out and it has done her the world of good, especially just getting her used to warm up areas with other horses cantering around etc..

Def take him. though hope its not too busy and go somewhere with a decent size warm-up too!!! They have to start somewhere!!!
