With the recent stuff in the news about car tax going up for cars 8 years old or newer (I believe) I was under the impression that cars older than 8, inc 4x4s, tax bands would not change.

I was talking to someone at the weekend who was thinking about getting an older 4x4 for towing, but they said that by next year all tax bands would go up regardless of vehicle age. Just wondering if anyone knows anything about this and/or if there's any info on the net about the price bands etc?

Last I heard was that vehicles from March 2001 would go up to aound £400 pa, but older vehicles would stay the same (£185 perhaps?) - it's all on DVLA website if you go look

Depend on the vehicle emissions. If you look on the Parkers website and put in the vehicle make, model and year they will give you predictions for the next two years. Mine has low emissions so isnt going up that much.
As far as I know Pre 2001 arnt going to change.
