Hi all!
My Pre fusion (50% Andalusian 25% American Saddlebred 25% is a mix of Tb and Arab) is a stubborn 14.2/3 and has been for 2 years !!!!!

she will be 4 in may.

Her sire is 16. approx
Dam is 15.3
Her smallest sibling is 15.2 and tallest is 16.3!
i am absolutely beside myself with her height as I’m 5ft 11. With her not growing for a couple of years I’m assuming she’s finished growing? What’s your thoughts please ! Photo is from her as a 2 year old as all my recent photos wouldn’t work! ( but she looks NO DIFFERENT!) :(

Mine was 13.2hh since a 3 year old. At 13 she’s now 14hh which happened at about 6 out of nowhere. Only a couple of inches mind but here to give you hope!

It can really vary but she might grow a bit more. If you hadn't mentioned the height of her parents then I would expect from her breeding that she would end up around 15hh, so maybe she's a bit more of a 'throwback' than her taller parents.

I have a PRE x Hannovarian who was 15.3hh at 3yo and was 16.3hh by 8yo, but not sure what in between. He is taller and broader than both parents

I also have a TB x Knabstrupper (and the the tb side was a teeny tiny sprint flat racer) who went from 14.1hh at 3yo to 16hh by 6yo. And on the other end of the spectrum I have a Connemara who hasn't grown a single centimeter since I bought her as a 2yo, staying stubbornly at 14.1hh and just chunking out.

The only one where the string test was accurate was the TB x knab, and that was the only one I didn't believe 🤷

I re measured her today she’s 14.3hh with her bum a good couple of inches higher. I did the string test and it’s saying 3 more inches so approx 15.2hh. I can only hope and pray.

That’s encouraging, she certainly looks growthy in the 2 year old pic. They can fool you, however; I bought a rising 3 yr old, very bum-high 14.2hh Frisian X Connemara that was “sure to grow” (my words). Never grew a centimetre in 19 years. The string test was accurate though, and I didn’t believe it.

She hasn’t grew at all in 2 years so I’m hoping she’s saving some. She’s got a similar growth pattern to her siblings they all did what she’s done ( at different heights but not grown for a chunk of time then started to grow a bit more..)
She’s 14.3hh and about 15/15.1hh on her bum and string test comes back at 15.1/2. I’d be over the moon with 15.1/2. We shall see. She’s only young still but you know, it’s difficult. I’ve had her since she was 8 months old and to watch her growth slow down is worrying.

I take a fatalistic, que será, será attitude: there’s not a darn thing you can do about anyway. Although Sod’s Law says that if you want ‘em small, they’ll grow, and if you need them tall they’ll be midgets. Much easier to buy what you need, really.

My PRE fusion decided at 3 that he was going to stop at 14hh and hasn’t grown a bit since. In fairness to him one of his grandsires was a Welsh section B, so not unexpected. I will say though that most people who have seen photos of him being ridden have never guessed he is so small. He looks quite horse-like under saddle.

I’d love to see a 4yo picture if you can get one to work, as she looks lovely.

I’m hoping my fusion is about done now and any more growing will be squaring out. he’ll be 6 in March and though I haven’t measured him recently he’s definitely been bum high a few times since he arrived in Nov 22. he has also filled out a lot so he’s definitely a lot more horse than he was a year ago rising 5!
