4yr old not happy getting his legs brushed!

Since his legs were clipped my 4yr old cob (5 in may) is now refusing to let me near his legs with a brush which is this current horrible moody weather isn't ideal as I don't like leaving dried mud on his legs!

I can run my hand down them... he's not sore and there's no scabs or swelling so I'm pretty sure he's just being a bit naughty!!

Any tips? ☺
 
sounds like he's a bit wary now, I would use bribery, let him know you have a treat, run brush down his leg and treat, my young cob didn't like his back feet picked up, resulting in him kicking the farrier, not acceptable, he now offers his foot for nothing other than a good boy and a scratch, I use treats short term, not as the norm, it works for my lad and he quickly realised picking his feet up didn't hurt or kill him and as he is a hairy cob, his legs get a lot of attention
 
Start with a cactus cloth? It will take dried mud off and might help to acclimatise him to being touched with the brush?
 
It might just be that it's a strange new feeling now he's clipped ("What have you done to my legs!") and you just have to go a bit gently & use praise / treats when he stays still.
 
Tried today with a very soft body brush... he just stood there! I think if the brush is a bit tough he doesn't like the feel of it!
 
When clipped, mine will move away from a plastic curry home, it's just too harsh. Keep practising with the body brush or possibly a rubber brush.
