I have a 5 month old lame foal, she has not swelling or heat. Its in the front leg and she is lame in walk... any ideas?

She is out with a 16 month filly, if she was kicked by her wouldn't she have swelling? or she could have slipped over in the field, I was at the yard all day yesterday and didnt see anything that would have caused it but she got worse through out the day and is still lame today...

Please do not hang around waiting for answers on here get the Vet asap. It could be many things but do not leave her in pain without Vet attention.

Sorry if i come across blunt it's not meant nastily.

Have you checked her feet? One of my foals was lame due to a splinter (probably from a rose bush). She went totally lame over night. A few days of poultice and she was fine.
Good Luck.

My foal was lame (but not hopping) in May at a week old. There was nothing to see and no heat or swelling. We got the vet out the following day and she had a full length vertical fracture of the hind cannon bone. She has recovered 100% but that is only thanks to the swift and decisive action my vet took. So I echo dressagecrazy - please get the vet out ASAP. Good luck and let us know how you get on.
